on nov 5th i had direct tv installed in my home the direct tv insstaller fell through my ceiling. i was told he would have to call his supervisor to come look at the damage and take pictures of it as well. his supervisor came out viewed the damage and said they would pay for it to get repaired as soon as i got an estimate of the damage. i did this nov 7 i got 3 estimates called nate faust whom was the supervisor i was to deal with he said fax all estimates and we should have it repaired within a week. i called each person that i had asked them to fax it to him. he called left a message on my answering machine letting me know that it was okay to have one of the companys come out and repair it then he would pay them. i called him back to let him know whom i had chosen and i wanted to know how this person would get paid he said call him back or he would call me back to let me know how it would be handled. nov 14 i called him he said everything was good and my claim was approved and he directtv would send me a check in a week for the damage to be repaired. i did not want to have the person fix my ceiling till i got the check. nov 21 called nate to let him know i had not received anything no answer just his voicemail left a message kept calling to let him know that i had company coming and needed my ceiling fixed no answer just voicemail. needles to say ceiling was not fixed before thanksgiving. kept calling nate after no return calls from him called his supervisor was told they would have nate contact me about this and if not him someone would call me . dec 4th nate finally returns my call with an excuse about he's the low man on the totum pole and he gave me ron andersons number told me to call him and he could help me. now let me tell you i have seven children and having this hole in my ceiling during the cold winter months was inconvenient to my family i went ahead and paid for the repairs to my ceiling because of them and because my heating bill was outrageous because of this i have yet to receive payment for the damages that occurred at my residence i still am having a hard time getting anyone at direct tv to help me they keep saying they did not get the fax of my damages i have pictures that i took of the ceiling they said send it to damage claims @ directv.com there is no website for this i am very upset i do not plan on staying with them after my year contract does anyone know who i can contact to get this problem resolved?

I am meeting with an attorney on Monday behind a [***] installer who secured the cable line to my hard wood floors with screws. What did you do that helped you to win your case? Who did you file the claim against specifically?

I recently had Direct TV installed, in November of 2012. This march we had a lightning strike which destroyed my internet equipment, soundbar, and 2 hd tvs. We were covered through insurance and warranties for most of it but had some deductibles and headaches with the process. Three nights ago we had another lighting strike and low and behold it happened again! This time it destroyed 2 LG smart tvs. We were encouraged to check the grounding of the dish and found that Direct TV had ran the ground wire into the crawl space and left it hanging. I was informed I could be reimbursed, but its not looking too good after reading personal experiences on here.

Directv tech. fried my 55" tv and couldnt fix the problem they were there for. The "adjuster" came and plugged the tv in and pushed the power button and it didnt work. Finally after weeks of try to get a hold of the lady in the claims dept. they decided it wasnt there fault. Had to borrow an old tv and still cant get on demand because the internet package they sold me is too slow. I hate them!!! The tech came in was working behind the tv plugging things in and out and then the tv went. So sorry. too bad not our fault.

I was going  to go with direct TV, but then I canceled it three days ahead of time. Now they tell me that I owe them 110.00 cancelation fee. They never even installed anything. I never heard of a company doing that. I can not trust a company that acts that way. I think they are crooked!!!

We just had Directv installed at our home yesterday; being an old Dish Installer myself (and a perfectionist), I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the installation, as well as the ethics of the individual who installed the system.
My wife comes home from work at approximately 5 p.m. and finds the installer working in the attic... the access door is in the back of the home, located in my home office... the front door is standing wide open, as well as the garage door in the back, and there's a heat index of 105 degrees, a/c is working overtime. In addition to this, the appearance of the cabling and dish was very unprofessional and sloppy. (Back when I was an installer, I would have been canned for that alone!) The installer had no reference materials, such as guides, operating instructions, and gave my wife and mother-in-law no instruction on the operation of the system. Neither did he stay around for the (4) systems to complete their downloads. I arrived shortly before the installer's departure, but I wasn't given time to inspect anything before he left, and only learning about these problems afterwards. On top of all this, I went to each room to inspect his workmanship; oh boy... cables left hanging out of all the TV stands, personal property and accessories scattered  or misplaced, etc... Then the big "OH-NO"! As I was inspecting the installation in the living room, I found that the guy had removed the shelve over the flat screen on our entertainment center (totally unnecessary, since the TV swivels 180 degrees either direction) Well, whilst this moron was attempting to remove this shelve, he ignored the fact that there were some personal items being displayed upon the shelf, very special items that mean a lot to us and our family, irreplaceable heirlooms and such... I found those items (glass & porcelain) in pieces behind the TV and entertainment center. The 'effin disrespectful idiot didn't even inform us that he had any problems, and/or damaged anything! Now we are out of some very sentimental belongings, and all Directv can say is, "What's the value?" Dammit! It's not the worth that bothers me, but instead it's the quality of service and the ethical aspects of their employees. If this numbskull would do this and then not inform us, then now I'm worried about the installation quality, i.e. the roof mount, the cabling, and on and on and on. I've decided that I'm going to have them send a senior installer to inspect the work this moron did, and I'm going to make them offer me a value for the damage that was done to our personal property.

As a proud owner/technician of a small family owned satellite and antenna business it disturbs me to read these posts.  The sad thing is I see and repair a lot of terrible installs that should have been correct the first time whether it be dish or directv.  My best too late response would only be in future ventures order your subscription from the local guy who goes the extra mile to earn your business.  Wish you all luck and hope your claims get resolved.

I just bought a $210,000 townhouse. It has hard wood floors on the first floor. The initial installer thought it was a great idea to secure the cable, that ran the length of the room, directly to the hard wood floors with screws. The screws were raised so high above the floor that it cut the bottom of my grandson's foot. So now I have a floor full of holes. I submitted my claim. They sent a technician out to remove the screws, and processed my claim. I was told that once the claim was approved that they would send me a release letter to sign and a check would be issued directly to me. My claim was approved but they are now telling me that they are going to send their own repair people to fix my floor. That company said what they are going to do is to simply remove the floor baseboard and get a wider strip big enough to cover the holes! I contacted an attorney and have a appointment to meet in a few days. I may loose in court but at least everyone in the courtroom will think twice before dealing with Direct TV!

While having a birthday party everyone started smelling a very strong toxic smell. It took awhile to figure out what it was with so much going on in our home.  It was our box smoking!! My husband put it outside but the smell filled our home with such a bad odor.  I hate knowing we are breathing in chemicals ecspecially because we have a 6month old.  So much for a nice party!  How are there so many complaints and no solution?

We have had our service since 2011 and we kept loosing our hd channels. About a year ago we had someone out and they said our dish had moved and readjusted it and our hd came back so we thought no problem. Well about 2 weeks ago we called because once again we had lost hd channels. We had also ripped our old cabinets out to install a new stove and we noticed what seemed to be black mold on the wall behind the cabinet. Well when the direct tv man came out to fix our problem he said that the dish had been installed wrong and was sinking into our roof and it was very rotten. He wouldn't fix it because he didn't want I out his name on the job and said we needed to contact direct to have them fix it. After all of this we call and they say that we need to contact the contracted installer they had and it pretty much wasn't their fault. The way I see it is if I'm paying someone for a service and they sent someone out to install it then they should be responsible for the damages. We have called our homeowners insurance to take a look and the contractor that came out said it was from the dish. If the adjuster agrees and they refuse to pay I will be talking with a lawyer. We have been loyal customers for 4 years and once this is all done we will be switching providers.

directv installers put a disk on the roof of my mobile home causing damages of more than $3750, how ever directv wants to pay only $2800.00. I have them  at least twentyfive times no one will return my call from claims protection or this guy in LA. Which proves to me that just about every one in claims department are all paid to lie to any one who files a claim even though it is their fault. time to get a lawyer.
