on nov 5th i had direct tv installed in my home the direct tv insstaller fell through my ceiling. i was told he would have to call his supervisor to come look at the damage and take pictures of it as well. his supervisor came out viewed the damage and said they would pay for it to get repaired as soon as i got an estimate of the damage. i did this nov 7 i got 3 estimates called nate faust whom was the supervisor i was to deal with he said fax all estimates and we should have it repaired within a week. i called each person that i had asked them to fax it to him. he called left a message on my answering machine letting me know that it was okay to have one of the companys come out and repair it then he would pay them. i called him back to let him know whom i had chosen and i wanted to know how this person would get paid he said call him back or he would call me back to let me know how it would be handled. nov 14 i called him he said everything was good and my claim was approved and he directtv would send me a check in a week for the damage to be repaired. i did not want to have the person fix my ceiling till i got the check. nov 21 called nate to let him know i had not received anything no answer just his voicemail left a message kept calling to let him know that i had company coming and needed my ceiling fixed no answer just voicemail. needles to say ceiling was not fixed before thanksgiving. kept calling nate after no return calls from him called his supervisor was told they would have nate contact me about this and if not him someone would call me . dec 4th nate finally returns my call with an excuse about he's the low man on the totum pole and he gave me ron andersons number told me to call him and he could help me. now let me tell you i have seven children and having this hole in my ceiling during the cold winter months was inconvenient to my family i went ahead and paid for the repairs to my ceiling because of them and because my heating bill was outrageous because of this i have yet to receive payment for the damages that occurred at my residence i still am having a hard time getting anyone at direct tv to help me they keep saying they did not get the fax of my damages i have pictures that i took of the ceiling they said send it to damage claims @ directv.com there is no website for this i am very upset i do not plan on staying with them after my year contract does anyone know who i can contact to get this problem resolved?

I have just started a claim with directv. They are horrible. My neighbor had to wait for a year and finally threaten an attorney. Well I'm not going to wait a year for the damage they did to my roof. I had a brand new roof installed in 2007 and they have caused damage to my roof in two places. They didn't caulk around the dish when they did the new installation and didn't plug holes when they moved it from one location from the other. They are losing me as their customer and I will contact the better business b. and an attorney if necessary. You are so right they have no problem reaching you when they want money. If enough people contact the BBB their business will be ruined.

Mark, they put a hole through my water main exit 3 years ago. Very slow seepage and because it was covered by a bookshelf and piano, I just saw the damage and super extensive mold on Sunday. I contacted them right away, but my hopes are low since it was a long time ago installed. Any luck on any one else's claims like this? I need all new flooring and walls in my living room.

If you have a claim with DirecTV don't work with anybody who is a contractor for DirecTV. Be sure you call 303-712-5033 and leave a message with your account number.  If they OK working with their contractor then it's cool.  Just be sure to call the corporate office.  Leave as many messages as you need to.  You'll get a call back.  Follow the instructions they give you.  Not the instructions from the call center or the local office.

The problem is people are trying to work with the local installers without the DirecTV corporate claims department knowing about it.  They are also probably not following the directions they are given out of righteous indignation in some cases.

The corporate claims department will ensure they work with you.  Just leave the account number when you leave a message.  This is like a pin number that ensures it's someone related to the customer enough to know the account number.  They might not call back without you leaving the account number -

Follow the instructions they give you and don't be pissy about the whole thing - be persistent - call 303-712-5033 and leave a message with your account number - They will work with you if you work with them

You also have to be able to demonstrate the damage - No matter what you SAY happened, if you have no proof, then you have no claim.  No matter how much we all want it to be so, this ain't Mayberry folks!  You have to DEMONSTRATE what you assert.

This people are morons.  Do not use them ever, and tell your friends not to subscribe to them at all.  They cause damage and are not responsible or trained to do the correct thing.  They only think of the money aspect.

    OMG !!

After reading these comments it sounds like I'm screwed, but I'm not giving up.  Dude drilled holes all the way through my home in 4 spots and was told to use the old cable holes.  I also keep getting voice messages. I know they are a bit company, but I will seek legal action.

I am an attorney at law, who has worked in the construction industry and represented both contractors and customers. Believe me there are too many "brutalizers " out there that do damage with no consequences to them. You must get good information BEFORE you engage their services. It is Not common sense that is required but uncommon sense (i.e. expertise). They should rarely be allowed to drill holes through layers of building material to simplify the installation. It is very easy to route wires to avoid damage and unsightly runs. If you can see the work they probably screwed it up. Moreover, it is what you can't see that really does you harm. Let me give you a few considerations: if the wiring was ill-planned and ill-installed, the dish was probably ill-planned and ill-installed too. The warranty on your home may be voided or at least give the warrantor excuses not to be responsible. Rot and mold spores can kill you and your kids and your pets.
You can injure your invited guests too. Your homeowners insurance may be voided. Legal fees can bankrupt you. Resale may be delayed or lost while the inspectors for the buyer and seller debate the remedy. All of these things have already happened to others. Join forces, defray the cost, get an attorney to take the cases on a contingency fee basis, and fight the [***]!

I would suggest filing a claim with the Attorney General's Office.
Why waste time with irresponsible corporations?

LOL Mr. Miller I received an email from Shawn M @ direct tv and is this your accont number ???
    Re: DIRECTV Account:   45^50#01
    Dear Mr Miller,
We have received your recent inquiry

After a receiver catching fire in my home blowing up a $5,000 TV a move 4 scheduled installations ending up with a large damage claim when the 5th appointment was kept. I then receive an email from the claims unit while the new lead tech and a supervisor was here with the attachment containing someone else's name and acct info.  I do know that the office of the president is watching my claim at this point only because every time I have any interaction with anyone at the company I now email them also so they can monitor my account and account issues.  Hope all worked well for you just thought it was funny to see your name out here.

    Hello

We upgraded to Directv's HD receivers and DVR a year ago and since June of this year have been having constant power surges basically in the rooms where the DVR and receivers are.  These power surges can range from 2 to 4 times a day and shortly occur once we turn on Directv.  Our tv turns off and the receiver then immediately turns back on.  Since May we have gone through 14 DVR and Directv is saying that we have an electrical problem with our 17 yr old house.  We have had 3 electricians come out and each have said that my house is grounded, wiring and voltage is fine, yet my garage doors up and close by themselves, my computer has crashed 3 times and my telephone landline is constantly going dead.  My husband and I are at wits end because Directv basically lives at my house and they keep insisting that everying is wired properly and that we have an electrical problem.  They're telling me that the transformer that my house is connected up to is going bad and to contact my electric company.  My other neighbors are not expericing these problems because we are the only house connected to this transformer. Are there any electricians out here that work for an electric company reading this, your feedback would be greatly appreciated.  We don't know what to think beside get rid of Directv

WOW, I guess I should have looked at these before all my damage accrued! The guy from DTV who came out to install our dish on in early November failed to tie down the ladder resulting in the latter falling three different times. The third time it destroyed my patio table as well as our gutter. I spoke to the supervisor Tony McBride who advised me to get back with him on verbal estimates.... I did the week latter he needed written estimates.... then I he asked if I had a receipt and name and model number for our patio set. Of course I only had the brand. Then he needed pictures... weeks later he needed my husband to write out a incident report of what he had seen. After repeated attends to contact him we decided to call the clams department. They had no record of the claim after speaking to them they stated I should hear from the within 10 days and the claim should be settles. Today January 3 I received a phone call and he does not want to replace the set rather the table and wants me to drive 2 hours to see if the table is the correct color. I explained I am in school, have two children, and work.... when I will have time to do this. He then advised me he would speak to his boss and see what he thinks he can do.

A few years ago direct tv contractors installed a dish on the roof. last year when we had the storm, the brand new roof which was put about two months prior, starting leaking. upon  investigating, we found out that the dish was not put properly and resulted in the leak which damaged the interior ceiling in the apt.Spoke to a rep from head office at dtv and was told to send pics and estimate. after they recieved it they said they were not responsible and it was the the sub contractors they hired that was responsible, yet they refuse to give us any imformation where they could be located. a new tenant is due to move in and direct tv wants to put a new dish on the roof and rewire and hell no i will see to it that they dont . is either they use the existing bracket from a previous dish on the siding including the wires . otherwise that is a no no. and i am going to see to it that i am present when all the work is being done.

Still having problems with our DirecTv DVR.  Contacted the Potomac Edison to have the power to my house checked and it was discovered that one of the lines to my meter socket was burned out thusly reducing power to one side of my house.  We thought that this was reason why we've been getting power surges in certain rooms (basically where our DirecTV receivers are)and we were hoping that this had resolved our problems with DirecTV.  Guess What??? Despite (now) 4 electricians and my meter socket being replaced at our expense, not the electric company because you would think that with the meter belonging to the electric company that it would be their responsiblity, but it's not.  Anyway, the DVR is still constantly shutting down and rebooting it self and my 42" Sony Bravia.  DirecTV still insists that I have an electrical problem and that if it's not resolved no matter who we use whether it's DISH or Comcast, the receivers will continue to shut down. Is anyone else experiencing these problems??? I just can't beleive that I'm the only one!!!
