I purchase A 2004 jaguar x-type with 65K back in September 3,2009 with a 60 day warranty.Oct 15,2009 I purchased a warranty with, Direct buy warranty. My transmission failed due to mechanical issues,I submitted receipts showing the first month I spent 3,000 just to get it the way I wanted. After the transmission was fixed, they refuse to pay, cause they ran a carfax on my vechicle and claim it was involved in two accident before I purchase the car.So they reimburst my money cause if anything else happens they will not cover it.I had ask them when I first Purchase the warranty Do I need to get te car check in one of their listed repair shops, they said it was not necessary. So I ended up paying for the repairs.

Direct buy is great, fair honest & quick. They aren't stupid you cnt try & make a false claim they are certified professionals. So if you aren't honest this company isn't for you. They've been around longer then I have my father recommended them to me.they are great

I'm with you tom. And they really do their best to keep you happy I got a couple years ago on cyber monday and then used my warranty to the fullest for almost everything besides gas and oil change. I then renewed my contract cause I saw a great offer on groupon and I'm still happy.they have a mechanic that can tell them if its a re existing condition so don't try to fool them

    FRAUD
    DO NOT GO WITH THEM.
They claim its their competitor who is writing all these bad reviews.
I called to cancel mine within 30 days, their personalities completly changed.  They try to explain why and how but do not fall for it.  I have read over thier contract and these are some to watch out for and easy to miss:

    1) Their payout does no exceed $1500.00 per the lifetime of the contract.

    2) Not liable for consequential/secondary damage. There is NO coverage for the repair or replacement of non-covered components which are damaged by the failure of a covered component, which BS.

Spend the money on something else.  I got away without any lost but I wanted to do my share and hopefully help 1 or 2 people out here.

My story is a bit different from most above but fits the pattern of deception experienced by other victims of direct buy warranty. i contacted DB last November 2010 as i was trying to line up coverage for my 06 Mercedes R350 in advance of the factory warranty expiring at 100,000 miles which is scheduled to happen any day..My initial idea was to just get information and pricing. The salesman i dealt with {SAM} made me an offer i could not refuse: 5 years or 100,000 miles which ever came first for about $1800. he said i could pay $200 down and lock in the rate with the contingency that the policy would go into effect the following December 2011 or whenever i notified them that the car had tipped the 100,000 mile mark..To me this was perfect arrangement. i would then pay monthly payments for 18 months after coverage started till the balance was paid..well i called last week to notify them to activate the policy and was told that my policy was CANCELLED last Jan and that there was limited access to my record and no reason was posted for the cancellation.. when i told the guy i did not request to cancel he said there was nothing he could do and could not reinstate the policy. i asked to speak to a supervisor and was repeatedly told none were available and would i like a call back from one...i said yes and still have not received a call back both days i was promised..i was also told i received a prorated refund for my $200 which was not true. i was ripped off 200.00 and never notified of the cancellation or a reason why..i now find out they are not licensed to sell warranties in California and it was illegal for them to do so in the first place..these guys are criminals running a racket and should be shut down by the attorney generals office of new jersey...any class action count me in....

I am dealing with these clowns now. They denied me for the same reason as everyone else. Said my transmission issues were a preexisting condition. Any used car you buy is going to have some sort of mechanical issue otherwise I wouldn't need a warranty. I called the sales line and spoke a a rep who refused to give me a corprate name of who to speak to. I just called the NJ Dept of Consumer affairs and filed a complaint and well as calling my credit card company to try and fight amount for fraud. Hopefully something is done about this company.

You are only saying that because you are paid to, by us poor suckers who buy your line of crap.  I bought your Elite (ha ha) plan for my 2004 Cadilac STS; paid #2200.00 for the plan in full and the first time I needed to use it was denied.  Should have known the second I called that you would find a reason legitamet or not to deny it too cause the first thing out the the customer service reps mouth was that diagnostics and part removal would not be covered and that we needed to fax over our service records.  We had our mechanic fax over the records for all services performed in the 5 months we owned the vehicle which included motor mounts from when we first purchased the vehicle in July 2011 at which time the vehicle had exactly 70716 miles on it and an oil change in September of 2011,   On October 31, 2011 we decided to purchase the warranty from you at which time the vehicle had exaclty 77,777 miles on it; we started the warranty for 77,800 miles.  Now its the end of December 2011 and the vehicle has 80,000 miles and we are having transmission problems which brings us to this point.  Our claim was denied because our mechanic made a clerical error on the mileage for the oil change he performed in September 2011 at which time he stated the vehicle had 78,000 miles on it; which is higher than the mileage we claimed to have on it when we purchased the warranty in October; he has contacted you with regards to his error but you really were just looking for a reason to deny the claim.  You even threatened us with fraud.....  to that I say bring it on!!!!  We can prove the mileage from when we purchased the vehicle in July to be valid at 70, 718 by the title as well as the vehicle inspection report and the mileage today is 80,000.   You are saying that we put 8,000 miles on the vehicle from July to September and only 2000 mile from September to December.......  it doesn't take a genious to see that our mechanic (who even stated he made an error).  You just did not want to provide the service we paid for.

Sam you should just quit while you think you're ahead.....  I believe all the complaints since I too have the same complaint.  Your company will find any reason to deny a claim from not enough service records on a vehicle you only purchased 2 days ago to it was raining when you bought your warranty so therefore you're not covered since your transmission blew on a Thursday afternoon.  As for your threat to seek legal action against anyone on here for stating their experience with your company I say "GOOD LUCK" who do you think you are scaring?? My claim was denied and I was threatened by one of your customer service reps with fraud......  I look foward to hearing from your attorney because I can prove all of my accusations against your CRAPPY COMPANY!!!  I don't expect to hear from your so called fraud dept though; however I have found several customers on this site who would be more than willing to have DIRECT BUY WARRANTY hear from an attorney in a CLASS ACTION SUIT!!!!  anyone interested please contact me at dgkse@yahoo.com.  Lets get the ball rolling!!

      DBW,
You keep stating that David's contract was only 14 days old, what difference does that make????   what if he had a 5 year warranty and it has been 4 years 364 days???  you sold a warranty for a specific time period and it should not matter if it was only a day old.  If you need reasons to deny claims make them legit;  maybe you should require inspections before selling your warranty;   OH but wait then you wouldn't ,make as much money as you do just denying every claim that you get.
