I purchase A 2004 jaguar x-type with 65K back in September 3,2009 with a 60 day warranty.Oct 15,2009 I purchased a warranty with, Direct buy warranty. My transmission failed due to mechanical issues,I submitted receipts showing the first month I spent 3,000 just to get it the way I wanted. After the transmission was fixed, they refuse to pay, cause they ran a carfax on my vechicle and claim it was involved in two accident before I purchase the car.So they reimburst my money cause if anything else happens they will not cover it.I had ask them when I first Purchase the warranty Do I need to get te car check in one of their listed repair shops, they said it was not necessary. So I ended up paying for the repairs.

At the end, they are only returning 50% of what you paid.. common.. it's 2010.. i can't believe people are still doing fraud like this..  I am so sad.. so mad.. and so pissed.. someone needs to stand up and do something about this company.

Okay, I too just fell into their little trap.  A boot on the drive axel is leaking - which according to the contract says it is covered.  $1200 repair, but nope they turned it down.  Their angle was that it was preexisting and must have been ripping for years.

The rudest bunch of people in the world.  I then hung up and called them back using a different name.  Got a sales rep on the phone, gave info on another car and reviewed what would be covered.  The sales rep trying to sell me a $3k policy told me that under no uncertain terms all conditions of wear according to the contract are covered.  He joked with me saying "once you drive a car off the lot things wear, of course we'd cover wearable items except breaks and tires."

When I told him who I was and that he just lied to me he flipped me off and hung up.

I want a full refund and damages for the repair.

Oh... and ready for this.  I also had a problem with the motor in the drivers side window.  The window will go down, but not up.  In order to get it up you have to hold the button and pull it.  They told me that is not covered because it still works 50% of the time... down.  They won't cover it until there is a total failure.

    Can you believe it?

I put in a claim on 9/21/10 and they still haven't responded to my claim.  I'm beginning to doubt them covering my expenses.  The claims department appears to be closed under construction and I'm not getting through.  My car has been sitting at the shop for two weeks.  If anyone has info on how to get through to these people please give me a call at 916 206 8888 or email me at dlagustin@yahoo.com

i dont know who allan is but i'm assuming he works for direct buy.  i must agree with 90% of the posts on this site.   the company is a scam.  i cant even get a call back to tell me whats going on with my claim after my vehicle has been in the shop for 3 weeks.  last week i was told there was a construction problem, then there was a fire.  Now this week there offices are closed again.  Allan is blaming costumers for not maintaining there vehicles but who is the blame for this terrible customer service of direct buy.  when i was purchasing this warranty the salesman called me back 3 times that day.  now that i have purchased it i havent received a call back yet after 23 calls to their answering service.

I wanted to shop for the best price and coverage but Direct Buy
told me i had to make a decision on the phone and that if i changed my
mind in the first 30 days they would refund me my down payment. I got the
policy in the mail and it was totally different that what i had been told.
when i tried to cancel they said i couldn't and convinced me this was
the best coverage available. I'm an old man and didn't know any better.
When my car broke down about a year later, after paying over $2000.00
they said it was my fault my water pump broke and paid nothing. This really
destroyed my budget and i had to borrow from my kids. This caused problems
in my family. When i cancelled after that i got nothing back. I don't hate
anyone but save yourselves and stay away from this awful company.

It looks like I may not be getting paid for my repairs so I will be filing at the small claims court.  Will see if they respond then.

Just filed a claim through BBB in New Jersey since I've been getting the run-around.  If that's not going to work, then my next route will be Superior Court of California.

I have the same issue with them.  My car was sitting at the shop for 3 weeks, and exactly what you said, the claims department seemed to have some construction going on, and nobody was even there to answer a call.  What the *&^% is going on.  I mean, if they are legitimate, shouldn't they have a disaster plan when problems like this happens?  I mean, if you call the line to buy their service, they seem to answer the call fairly quick.  Why not reroute the claims calls to them?  My service shop had faxed them the bill and every time I call DB, they always have a ready answer:  the invoice hasn't been reviewed yet; the billing department is not open until 11am Eastern time; etc...  They always promised me they'd call me back, but have I received any phone call?  Nooooooooooooooooo.  I finally filed with the BBB in New Jersey.  Will see what happens.  If that doesn't work, my next step will be Superior Court.

nothing but a scam.   when i finally got thru to someone i was told i needed to provide proof that a previous unrelated problem had been repaired.  faxed over the proof.  waited another week for an answer on my claim when i was finally told, "oh, we're sorry that part is covered."   they could have simply said that day 1 when the claim was called in if that was the case but of course its not.  had a friend call in for a new quote and he was told the same repair is a covered item.  total scam

    Allan,

You must be stupid or something to say all this. Shame on you. I know how direct buy warranty works. They never respond timely, nor they approve claims, if they approve, they ask mechanich to look for after market claims.

I agree, positive comments are direct by Direct Buy Warranty.

    Brian,

can you show any proof of your bank statement or invoice from mechanic that they reimbursed your stuff. Cheap guy.

    you fault
Hey Mr. GG Charles, Are you aware that presenting false claims is a criminal offense? that there are Civil Penalties which may be imposed as well.

When you present your story, why don't you tell the truth? A Vehicle Service Contract is not your personal ATM machine for you to draw on. The Vehicle Service Contract is not intended for use as a means to rebuild your vehicle.

    JUST TELL THE TRUTH

    your fault
You forgot to mention to the sales representative that your truck, an F250 was commercially registered, which is not allowable under the terms of the contract. Oh, and let's not forget you filed a claim 9 days after effective date.
