I have been going to Great Clips in Twin Oaks, Mo for many many years. I kept the same gal for about 8 yrs. and through out the last 2-3 years, she wasn't quite cutting my hair the way I liked, so I backed off from haircuts all together and gained quite a bit of length.

I recently in the beginning of May , decided after the last two times with my hairdresser, to choose someone else who I had used once in the past. This gal gave me the most disgusting haircut and I had even brought in a picture for her to work from. Now mind you, I have hair down to the middle of my back, plenty to work with and she now has the front cut so short and weird i cannot do anything with it and I cannot possibly have it blended without loosing a lot of length in my other layers to try and blend it into looking something like a real hairstyle. I went back up to see if another gal could just look at it and see what she thought and if there was anything that could be done.

I was treated so horribly and even accused of having gone back in for multiple re-cuts when there was no record of this in the computer. The manager even went so far as to say " Well, I know I've seen you back in here. I do not know why it is not here in the computer!"

Accusing me of lying and she had no proof of anything she said! This took place in front of other customers and stylists and I was treated like I was some stupid kid! i had even asked if she wanted to look at it and she said " well it looks fine to me " without even touching it!

By the time I did end up talking with another hairdresser, I was boiling inside. This gal had an equally ignorant attitude and I told them both I didn't want anyone there cutting my hair. She couldn't answer me why it was that my hair was so uneven and choppy.

I told her it's because no one is checking their work or really listening to the client. I came home and wrote to the headquarters of Great Clips, but because the are franchised, I knew it would do no good, but wanted my say. I have since asked my friends and family as well not to patronize any Great Clips salons. They have no public relations skills and the gals do not listen or check your hair after a cut. It's an assembly line. And they do not care if you have any problems at all. They act like it's you who is being the pain and they do not care if you come back or not . I will never step foot into a Great Clips ever again.

I worked at a great clips for a little under a year. The first thing that should have set me off was the fact that I was only getting paid minimum wage. The next thing that should have bothered me was that they hired me and I didn't even have my license yet. I don't expect a million dollars but I do expect to be paid better than the person flipping burgers at the mcdonalds next door. any way. I personally have NEVER had anyone complain of a haircut that I have given them, but there was a stylist that i worked with that was absolutely TERRIBLE and the managers themselves knew about it. They were AFRAID to fire her because they didn't want her to be able to collect unemployment.  This girl actually stole money out of MY wallet, and from the register and the management overlooked it. Can you really expect a great haircut if the stylists are being paid like slave drivers? The idea of getting an education for bettering yourself OBVIOUSLY doesn't pay off. OH and for icing on the cake. there was a lady that i worked with that had been there for 5 years and literately was making $.02 more an hour than i was, fresh out of school. DO NOT give this company your money. they do not appreciate their stylists and deserve to fail.

I worked for 2 different franchisees.. The ones who started Great Clips, treated me very well.  They did give health insurance for $30 a month and a persion plan. The pay was below average, I couldn't afford to pay my rent, but I would average 4 haircuts an hour.. I always got the bonuses always went to other locations for extra money, etc.  They would give you 20 minutes for a men's haircut and 40 for women's.  as for coupons they would pay you the actual full price of the haircut.
Then, a couple years later, I transferred to another GC location.  They were awful.... They would rip me off every opportunity, not provide any benefits, and treat the employees and customers.  Then, we had 10 min for men's cuts and 20 for women's.
So, in other words every franchisee is different.. But, cosmetologists save your time and not work for GC and go for the local Ma and Pop's you will get treated better and they give a [***] about your CE's...

Today I got a horrible haircut from great-clips, and I realize that as my hairdresser, I should tell you what I want my hair to look like, right? Well, not exactly. See, I don't KNOW what you did different than the 15 previous hairdressers before you. For years we go to differing dressers, shops, etc. and you are the one person who decides to **** it all up? How should we know what to have you do different?
    Every time...
Dresser: "Is there anything wrong with your hair sir?"
My thoughts: "**** RIGHT THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG! WHAT THE **** DID YOU DO TO MY HAIR?"
    My words: "I guess not..."
See, I know, and you have on record, how my hair SHOULD look. We aren't your **** coaches.

So everyone does cut hair different. If something is wrong with your haircut, you need to tell that stylist. How can they fix or know what is wrong if you don't tell them.  The clip notes in the computer only tell them so much. The stylist should have a consultation with you before the cut asking what you like and making sure    they know what you want. If something is wrong, speak up. They are hairstylists, no mind readers.

I go to Great Clips all the time. I always go to the same stylist and she does a good job. I usually tip $3.00 but I am wondering whether the stylist is paid less when I use a coupon. If the stylist is paid only a percentage of the coupon price I should tip more to make up for her loss. If she gets the same amount as without a coupon I would tip the regular amount. Appreciate feedback from GC stylists.

The stylists make an hourly rate, so no matter what, they get paid the same.

I would never, ever give a client a 15 min haircut!!!! Women get 45 mins in my chair. Men get 30 mins (although I never take that long). No wonder all the cuts coming out of that place are so bad! Customer service is the key. If I were you guys working there, I would try to give some, build your costomer base and get in a real salon.....

Every time I go to Great Clips, NO MATTER WHAT IT SAYS IN THEIR COMPUTER, they always get it backwards. ALWAYS. Even if I ask them what it says in the computer before they start, they still get it wrong. If I want to walk around with a bad haircut, I can do that myself. Do not make the mistake of going to Great Clips.

I have been working for great clips for 2 years now and i really enjoy my job. I do my best to make every customer happy and provide them with a quality cut. it makes my day when i see a client smile when i finish their hair. while i do wish i was making more, i make enough to support myself and my two kids. I feel blessed to have a steady job in this economy although i do feel that some of the corporates expectations are unreasonable. it is never fair to take out any frustrations on customers. But some people u can never make happy. if u have been to many different great clips and stylists and were never happy with your experie nce, maybe YOUR the problem. also it helps to be specific about how u want your hair. dont get annoyed when we ask u questions about your hair unless u really dont care how it turns out. and dont show us a picture of a haircut with straight hair if u have curly hair unless you are willing to straighten it everyday.and if u want it shorter just tell us we really do want to make u happy. If u are rude from the beginning u may make us nervous and the haircut may not come.out right. as far as tips, i dnt expect any more than two dollars from a 5 min buzz cut. but if u have long tangled hair that takes 30-45 min, it is very discouraging to get less than 5 dollars. we really do live off our tips and i always thank every customer. after all, if it wasnt for the customer, we wouldn't have a job! I dnt know how long i will stay with great clips, i am 21 just hoping to gain some experience. but please dont judge all great clips on one bad haircut. while there is no excuse, we all have our bad days. i would be lieing if i said i have never messed up. Also, while this isnt an easy job, i dont think i would call it exaughsting, try warehouse work lifting heavy boxes all day or cleaning houses scrubbing toilets. we are never on our feet for 10 straight hours. law requires a break after 5 hours. somedays are harder than others but overall i enjoy my job and i am very sorry to anyone who has had a bad experience at great clips.

I was going to the GC in Gastonia  NC at Franklin Sq. I always asked for the same stylist and never fail she would say how would you like it cut . She is the only one that had been cutting my hair and they have notes added in their computers to let them know your cut. My hair is short and there is really only way to cut it . I figured if she can't see to read on how she has been cutting my hair for the past 6 months or more she can't see to cut it. I always even tipped her five dollars or more, but no more

I'm in Canada. I just recently went to a great clips here in Alberta. I got the most f-ed up haircut ever. I asked for a 5 on top and 4 on side. I got a 4 on the side but a 2 on top. What is wrong with these people? I'm getting my picture taken next week for school and I look like a piece of sh*t. I contacted corporate and I'll I got was a "the store manager will contact you to resolve it". Screw you Great Clips!

I have been reading these posts and on behalf of all stylist who work or have worked at great clips I appoligize. It is unfortunate that sometimes stylist make mistakes and sadly if that happens it isn't pretty. I have been at great clips on and off for about 8 years. Yes we are timed and have goals to meet and honestly the owners only care about the almighty dollar not client satisfaction.  On the other hand do. I always make sure that I listen to my clients and give everyone the same professional treatment regardless if they tip me or not because ThatsMy Job. Seems to me some of u stylist have either forgotten that or never learned it. The fact that some of u stylist are saying these rude insulting things to prior clients completely embarassing. You need a lesson in professionalism. You do not belong in this field and should hold yourself accountable for the fact that u have lost business for our company. I truly hope that all of you customers who have had a bad experience will give another great clips salon a chance and not assume that we all behave so poorly. If u sit in my chair I promise u will get the excellent treatment that u deserve. For the stylist on here that has presented the rest of us so poorly, Stop acting like u have no sense and be professional. If u do then maybe u will be tipped better. Also u make an hourly wage as well so stop acting as though u live off your tips. U should be ashamed of yourselves I know I am ashamed of u. Do not represent this company by acting like trash!!!!!!
