I have been going to Great Clips in Twin Oaks, Mo for many many years. I kept the same gal for about 8 yrs. and through out the last 2-3 years, she wasn't quite cutting my hair the way I liked, so I backed off from haircuts all together and gained quite a bit of length.

I recently in the beginning of May , decided after the last two times with my hairdresser, to choose someone else who I had used once in the past. This gal gave me the most disgusting haircut and I had even brought in a picture for her to work from. Now mind you, I have hair down to the middle of my back, plenty to work with and she now has the front cut so short and weird i cannot do anything with it and I cannot possibly have it blended without loosing a lot of length in my other layers to try and blend it into looking something like a real hairstyle. I went back up to see if another gal could just look at it and see what she thought and if there was anything that could be done.

I was treated so horribly and even accused of having gone back in for multiple re-cuts when there was no record of this in the computer. The manager even went so far as to say " Well, I know I've seen you back in here. I do not know why it is not here in the computer!"

Accusing me of lying and she had no proof of anything she said! This took place in front of other customers and stylists and I was treated like I was some stupid kid! i had even asked if she wanted to look at it and she said " well it looks fine to me " without even touching it!

By the time I did end up talking with another hairdresser, I was boiling inside. This gal had an equally ignorant attitude and I told them both I didn't want anyone there cutting my hair. She couldn't answer me why it was that my hair was so uneven and choppy.

I told her it's because no one is checking their work or really listening to the client. I came home and wrote to the headquarters of Great Clips, but because the are franchised, I knew it would do no good, but wanted my say. I have since asked my friends and family as well not to patronize any Great Clips salons. They have no public relations skills and the gals do not listen or check your hair after a cut. It's an assembly line. And they do not care if you have any problems at all. They act like it's you who is being the pain and they do not care if you come back or not . I will never step foot into a Great Clips ever again.

First of all, Look at the person that is cutting your hair, and see how old they are, if they're hair is somewhat in good style, and ask them if they will be able to perform the cut that your getting. It happens for a stylist to mess up on a haircut. Everyone is human. It happens. Stop complaining on here, and try to find someone else to fix it!

If you think that cutting hair is so easy, go try it yourself. Its pretty hard. People expect so much out of one person who has been on they're feet all day. You people are ridiculous. You cant get into a salon without a license and passing state board. It doesnt take 2 weeks like the idiot on here said. It takes two years or more, and how good you are, is how much you actually wanted to do it.

If it was so difficult to acquire the skill set and position for which you are so unhappy, perhaps you should have devoted your time to something else.  Your patrons expect quality work, it will reflect in the amount of tip you receive as well as the amount of business you get.

Everyone works all day long, and I'd be wiling to bet you expect the same quality from them at the start of the day as at the end otf the day.  Should the roofer quit nailing your shingles because it has been a long day?  Perhaps your attorney should stop arguing your case at the end of the trial because s/he is tired form being in Court all day.  DO YOUR JOB LIKE YOU CARE ABOUT IT.

I still work for great clips because I want the people on here to see one day that not all great clips are hack shops! Does anyone think we like working for a company that has a bad name among the general population? I love my clients and want them to love their haircut. I dont let anyone leave unhappy and if they do it's because it isnt vocalized to me that they are anything but happy. All I ask is people quit telling others to boycott our salons. How about just ask them not to patronize the one you visited, or the stylist that messed you up? I work in a shop with 1 unpleasant stylist that just doesn't care about his job anymore. It shows on his clients hair and it shows in his attitude. What if everyone boycotted our shot just over one person? It's only some stylists, not all of us. Just give us a chance and just WATCH before you get it cut to see which stylist takes their time and is nice and listens to their client. I guarantee if you do that, youll walk out with a good cut.

If you're a stylist than you know that a license is required to cut hair. You don't get a license by only going to school for a week. I am also a licensed stylist who is licensed in 2 states. I have worked in very high end salons and I have worked in places like Great Clips. I have found that there are good and bad in both. In fact when I worked in a chain franchise I always had people who came in and told us that they had had awful haircuts at the high end place across the street. I actually prefer to work in chain salons. They are more laid back and the high end places usually tent to have stylists like you ( you know, the ones THINK they are better than everyone else) in them.

get a haircut and get a new job
I say if you aren't happy with your job at great clips then leave.you are saying you get crappy tips and telling everyone if we don't like the haircuts go somewhere else. Well we did find other places. Maybe you need to find a new job. By the way did it ever cross your mind you may be getting dollar tips because of you. Hmmm what a thought maybe crappy tips equal crappy haircuts. Get a new job and stop bitchin about the customers. You probably couldn't get a job at another salon they probably expect good customer service and someone that can also do a good job cutting hair. Doesn't sound like you. So get a haircut and get a new job!

    mechanicsburg pa great clips
Great clips awful haircut in record time. I could have done a better job myself. Plus the fact they are rude and have no customer service. I will never be back! Thank goodness hair grows back. I think the shop I was in in mechanicsburg pa. They all need to go back to beauty school or in some cases find a new career. It just opened about a month ago I can't imagine it will stay open long. I don't even want to start on exactly what happen I would be typing forever. I do want to say if you are a hair dresser you do have to deal with people. That's how you make your money. Nobody cares how long you have been on your feet how many haircuts you have done that day nor do they want to listen while you bs withyour co workers the entire haircut. If you wonder why you didn't get a better tip then take a look in the mirror. A customer wants to leave happy that's what will bring them back. So act like a professional and suck it up. There are alot of people that don't like somethings about their jobs but they have to deal with it. Since you chose to do this make the best out of it or find another career

I have been working for Great Clip almost a year.  The manager was not happy with me because I gave the clien a free hair cut.  The reason for that was the client was not happy about his last haircut at Great Clips.  So I appologized to the client and not charging him at all .  he was very happy that I adjusted his hair cut and I invited him back in 3-4 weeks for the next haircut and he said he will come back again. Also I sold some products to the client so he can style his hair but the manager was upset at me for not charging him for the haircut.  What am I suppose to do? can somebody help me? let me know if I was right or wrong.

I know there are alot of Hairstylist and upset Customers who have posted Comments on here and I want to give you the Opinion of a Stylist that has 22 years Experience. I have also worked for Great Clip at the Frankford and the Tollway. I know exactly how their method of operation is they hire just about anybody who applies for the Job, Pay low and advertise haircuts at $6.99 Because if a stylist does 4 haircuts in an hour at $6.99 they are making $27.96 and only paying the stylist $9.00 an hour. So great Clips makes $18.96 and the Stylist makes $9.00 (but that is only when the haircuts are on sale regularly they are about $14.99, that would be $50.96 for Great Clips and $9.00 for the Stylist) These places are Ideal for stylists that do not have a following clientele of their own .....and the reason why they do not have a following clientele is because they do not care if they return to them or not, They will still get paid the same $9.00 an hour.If you are a customer and want a personalized haircut and care, You will better off finding a hairstylist that is looking to grow their clientele list, Of course that means you will have to pay for the extra attention and care.It is totally up to the customer to decide which is more Important a cheap haircut or good care and service. Great Clips, Pro-Cuts, Super-cuts, Smart Style and Sports Clips are all Assembly Line Business,  and for all my colleagues I know you work hard and try your best, but don't take your frustrations out on the customer,Remember that the better you treat a customer the more your Tip might Increase, and If you are truly unhappy at your current Salon  strive for a better place on employment. GOOD LUCK to Everybody!

I'm sorry, but as a stylist I hate the term "you get what you pay for". That is an AWFUL way to approach a client!! When I was in cosmetology school, I went to a Sassoon connection school and we charged twelve dollars for a shampoo, haircut and blow-dry. By the time I finished school, my time for an average cut (usually line and layers) was 45 minutes to an hour including the shampoo and blow-dry, leaving the actual cut time to around 20 minutes INCLUDING a cross-check and texturizing. I've been told multiple times by clients that my cuts are just as good as what you can get in a high-end salon. Like someone said before, places like Great Clips are a decent place to get experience working with hair and clients and to build your clientele-- just because it's cheap doesn't mean it has to be low quality!

I'm terribly sorry to those of you who have had to deal with such terrible service and I hope you are given more respect and consideration the next time you go out for a service, and any stylist worth their salt will do the best they can with every client! I know people who pay $60 a haircut because they love their stylist, even though technically their cuts may not be considered by most to be worth that! Being a hair stylist is 10% skill and 90% attitude, all of you that are complaining and dissing your jobs online should start realizing that quickly!

Just so you know, I was treated like crap today buy one of you "stylists", and no I did not tip her! By the way, I WOULD HAVE given her a good tip if she's treated me right. I hate to tell you, most of you "stylist's" at Great Clips seem to be rude and unprofessional. Sorry honey, but if you hate your job, it's not the customer's fault.

I work at a great clips and cant wait to get out....the owners and managers never appreciate how hard you work and it is so hard to get any kind of raise.  My salon pays min. wage.  I do make good tips but it is not worth the stress they put you through.  It truly is the Walmart of the haircutting world.  Its not only Great Clips that is bad but most of the customers that go there are horrible people.  They expect the world for a 6.99 haircut....Are you kidding me?!??!? We charged more than that in beauty school!!! The one I work at makes around 9000-10000 a week, and the employees make 7.50 per hour. I can quit yet becuase I havent gotten to my 90 days...if i quit before then I have to pay them $100....

@ MAD, are you serious? You are not expected to act like this! You apparently NOT a professional in your profession. Your additude shows it. You could have chosen your words more carefully, you just gave stylist at GC a bad name. I would hate to come across you on one of your bad days, wow!!!
I actually LOVE my GC, the service, my stylist, never had a serious problem. And I've always treated everyone with the respect and kindness that I would like to receive, no matter who you are. I do hope you, MAD , get better clients.
