I have been going to Great Clips in Twin Oaks, Mo for many many years. I kept the same gal for about 8 yrs. and through out the last 2-3 years, she wasn't quite cutting my hair the way I liked, so I backed off from haircuts all together and gained quite a bit of length.

I recently in the beginning of May , decided after the last two times with my hairdresser, to choose someone else who I had used once in the past. This gal gave me the most disgusting haircut and I had even brought in a picture for her to work from. Now mind you, I have hair down to the middle of my back, plenty to work with and she now has the front cut so short and weird i cannot do anything with it and I cannot possibly have it blended without loosing a lot of length in my other layers to try and blend it into looking something like a real hairstyle. I went back up to see if another gal could just look at it and see what she thought and if there was anything that could be done.

I was treated so horribly and even accused of having gone back in for multiple re-cuts when there was no record of this in the computer. The manager even went so far as to say " Well, I know I've seen you back in here. I do not know why it is not here in the computer!"

Accusing me of lying and she had no proof of anything she said! This took place in front of other customers and stylists and I was treated like I was some stupid kid! i had even asked if she wanted to look at it and she said " well it looks fine to me " without even touching it!

By the time I did end up talking with another hairdresser, I was boiling inside. This gal had an equally ignorant attitude and I told them both I didn't want anyone there cutting my hair. She couldn't answer me why it was that my hair was so uneven and choppy.

I told her it's because no one is checking their work or really listening to the client. I came home and wrote to the headquarters of Great Clips, but because the are franchised, I knew it would do no good, but wanted my say. I have since asked my friends and family as well not to patronize any Great Clips salons. They have no public relations skills and the gals do not listen or check your hair after a cut. It's an assembly line. And they do not care if you have any problems at all. They act like it's you who is being the pain and they do not care if you come back or not . I will never step foot into a Great Clips ever again.

I agree! I have been with GC for 5 years and I love my job and my customers. You have no right to make me or other stylists who do a great job look bad and then blame the customer for the situation. Grow up! My average haircut time is about 12 minutes and my haircuts are excellent and customers always come back and tip well as they appreciate the fun, light  conversation and quick haircut that turns out looking great. If you aren't making money at GC, you're doing it wrong. Sorry.

I've worked  for great clips for close to eight years, and I can not tell you how many people blame every stylist in the shop for their bad haircut. I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience. I can assure you that not all great clips, supercuts, fantastic same, etc...are "chop shops." Yes we are in a 13-17 minute cut time, but we also have to worry about customer wait times as well as clean up times. We get treated horribly by many customers and are expected to be mind readers.  What we need to customer to understand is we can't always make you look like the picture...sometimes high end salons can't either. Please have a realistic expectation of your haircut as well.

Also, if you had a bad experience before, you can elaborate with the stylist and they can determine a better way to go about your haircut.

But, as customers have complaints, we do as well.

1)if we don't go to your place of employment two minutes before you close, don't do it to us.
2)please wash your hair, it affects the outcome of the cut more than you know.
3)we are not a day care provider for your child.
4)if we ask you not to sit in an empty station, please don't. Our chairs cost upwards of $600.
5)if you are rude to us, we'll be rude to you.
6)if you are I'll, stay home!!!!! We don't want to be ill just as our coworkers and other customers don't.
7)understand we have to miss birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, graduations and so on(in other words....we live at work)so if we aren't happy all the time, hopefully you understand now.
8)no one cuts hair the same, if your aunt or mom or grandmother cut your hair, that's great! But, can't say I'll cut it exactly like her.
9)if your girlfriend feels she has to supervise, please remember we don't like someone being that close to us while we are trying to cut your hair.
10)we live off of our tips!!! We do not get paid per haircut!!
11)if your child doesn't like haircuts, we're scared to cut their hair.
12)Believe it or not, there are some amazing stylists at Great Clips who care if you DO leave happy.

I showed the lady a picture of exactly what I wanted and I told her several times what I wanted and then she ruined my hair. She cut everywhere extremely short and left my bangs long. I literally looked like a lesbian girl, and I'm a guy. And that's not the first [***] haircut I've gotten there. It is literally an asembly line. I know it's cheep and if you want it done right go somewhere else, but they can at least try to follow directions especially when they are repeated several times.

    current GREAT clips employee
I have to say how surprised I am at some of these comments. I currently am in management at Great Clips and have been here shy of 2 years. I've been licensed for almost 8 and currently hold a license in 2 states. I have worked full service (booth rental), I've worked mega corporation (Regis) and now Great Clips, and I'm making a career with Great Clips. I've heard these complaints come from higher end salons as well as salons like GC. It's all in the stylist you go to. I've had to re-do cuts on $45 haircuts and I've had people tell me the only difference they see between the two was the price. The Franchisee that I work for is brilliant. The employees are treated like family, and no-one is ever threatened by not having haircuts in "standard". I work with 2 people that have been with GC for years,  and they are 20-30 minute cutters. Are training we have is not only the technical side, but the customer service side. That is one thing they grind in to us is to have exceptional customer service. If you're rude to a client, yes, they will have a one and done conversation. Pretty much saying if you're rude again, you're gone. We see a lot of people so we're not going to remember everything, but that's what's so great about clip notes. I like to make a note and date it if the client is doing something exciting, vacation, new baby, marraige etc... and bring it up next time they come in. They LoVE it! Our stores in this special franchise are highly respected, and they stay busy, because we care about our clients!

I just had my hair cut in Columbia, TN. Very very simple 4 on top and 2 on sides request, but for some reason I have a bald spot about an inch long above my left ear. It'll grow back, but seriously how hard is it to shave and trim a man's hair correctly? They don't care about the customer AT ALL.

I did everything according to their system, regulations and policies.  My clients, tipped me well,  a reflection on the quality of work that I did.  But, if the company doesn't like someone, they will find a way to trupm things up and lie to get rid of someone.  In my case it was discrimination of the race of person that I'm married to, all hell broke lose after I brought my 9 year old son into the shop to see where I was working, all of a sudden the very next day there was a huge complaint that was fabricated about how I offended a customer.  A complete BS story,  I refused to sign the documentation stating that , "I wont sign something that isn't true".  The week before all this happened , I was praised by the manager her self in how great I was doing, as soon as I introduced my mixed race kid, the crap started to fly.  Great Clips never again,  I hope they go down hard.  What can I do,  how can I prove this?

I had my hair cut in 8 minutes the girl was only worried about quitting time, then when I got home my wife had to even the back and shave my neck. 4th time I tried GC's and 3 out 4 sucked I encourage everyone to stop using GC's it may be the only way they change I sure have. Good Bye GC's

I would just like to put out there that it all depends on the stylist, just like anywhere else.  I work for great clips and I'm rarely ever in cut times.  I get hounded for it and so does another Co worker who has a he'd time being in cut times.  We would rather put out good work. Will we get fired for our cut times? We don't know, honestly.  We know they want to send us to classes which makes no sense because we know how to cut hair, we just take a little more time. Yes... The time expectations makes us angry but we don't send anyone out the door if we aren't confident in the finished product.  And that is exactly what I would tell upper management if asked.

ON April 12019, I went the the Great Clips location in downtown Tempe, Arizona to get a haircut. As I entered ,I took a seat waiting for someone to take my name and for the next 30-45 minutes I sat there waiting as both  attendants never came up to me or went to the computer to sign me in. I assumed that because it was a slow morning there was no need to be signed in. When all of the customers were done, I expected to be called next, however, a recent person who entered the store started to be taken when I registered my objection.  The attendant(JoY) asked if I had signed in and i said no had signed me in. What a screwed-up  situation . Remember, the front window says "Walk ins  Welcome" I was so furious that no apology was going to be enough and I walked out. Needless to say, I will not return and will mince no words if someone asks me about Going to Great Clips. I just could not  believe that two people  not more than ten feet away ignored me ,never took my name or signed me in as other clients  came in and were accorded the procedures of sign in clients.

No matter how many times I ask for a 1/4 inch off - it turns into 1/2 or 3/4s. Today was no exception. I came in to get my week-old cut (butcher job) fixed, and came away butchered again.

Seriously, scalp showing on a woman's short hair cut?!

Not to mention the woman who cut my hair did not want to listen, continually chastised me as I tried to see what she was doing with my cut, and generally did not give one single s*** about me as a customer.

Where do these people actually get their training?

    Never again Not-so-great Clips....never again.

I am a nurse. I love the way the lady at GC cuts my hair. She listens and she is good and quick. I have seen all the negative remarks. If you really have all these complaints them contact your State Board Of Cosmetology. Your state board ensures the safety, welfare and public health by regulating the salons, schools and individuals who practice cosmetology. I have been an RN for over 40 years. I have been called names, spit at, bitten and hit by patients because they were mad. Spend a night (or day) with me in an ER and see how rude (and dangerous) people can be. If you don't like a stylist, go elsewhere. If you have a TRUE complaint then contact your State Board of Cosmetology!
