I have been going to Great Clips in Twin Oaks, Mo for many many years. I kept the same gal for about 8 yrs. and through out the last 2-3 years, she wasn't quite cutting my hair the way I liked, so I backed off from haircuts all together and gained quite a bit of length.

I recently in the beginning of May , decided after the last two times with my hairdresser, to choose someone else who I had used once in the past. This gal gave me the most disgusting haircut and I had even brought in a picture for her to work from. Now mind you, I have hair down to the middle of my back, plenty to work with and she now has the front cut so short and weird i cannot do anything with it and I cannot possibly have it blended without loosing a lot of length in my other layers to try and blend it into looking something like a real hairstyle. I went back up to see if another gal could just look at it and see what she thought and if there was anything that could be done.

I was treated so horribly and even accused of having gone back in for multiple re-cuts when there was no record of this in the computer. The manager even went so far as to say " Well, I know I've seen you back in here. I do not know why it is not here in the computer!"

Accusing me of lying and she had no proof of anything she said! This took place in front of other customers and stylists and I was treated like I was some stupid kid! i had even asked if she wanted to look at it and she said " well it looks fine to me " without even touching it!

By the time I did end up talking with another hairdresser, I was boiling inside. This gal had an equally ignorant attitude and I told them both I didn't want anyone there cutting my hair. She couldn't answer me why it was that my hair was so uneven and choppy.

I told her it's because no one is checking their work or really listening to the client. I came home and wrote to the headquarters of Great Clips, but because the are franchised, I knew it would do no good, but wanted my say. I have since asked my friends and family as well not to patronize any Great Clips salons. They have no public relations skills and the gals do not listen or check your hair after a cut. It's an assembly line. And they do not care if you have any problems at all. They act like it's you who is being the pain and they do not care if you come back or not . I will never step foot into a Great Clips ever again.

That is correct..The dollar tip thing, and working our [***] off...These ppl come in here thinkin that they live in Beverley Hills, and were gonna give them a Celeberty haircut. The haircut is only 11 dollars. Not saying that your not going to get a good haircut from us but we work so hard and all's we desirve is a dollar? I think NOT!!! Also were not waitresses so when your tipping dont pull your little caculator out and try to find out what 18% is of the ammonut of the haircut because thats not what its based on!!!

You know I got a very bad hair-cut at Great Clips & my hair looked awful, and instead of complaining about it to the stylist, when I left I just gave 2 dollars for the tip. I think my stylist wasn't too experienced or skilled, she was a pleasant person, but that really does not make my hair look any better :( i guess, won't be going to Great Clips any time soon. Sorry for the negative feedback, but it is hard to leave a good tip when you actually aren't happy with your haircut.

Think about it, Great Clips is a mass marketed low budget clipper joint who runs coupons for rock bottom prices and herds their customers in like cattle. They do time their haircuts. The stylist has to move quickly - with a 15 minute deadline on each cut. Quality is not the main focus, money is. Now, while you complain about your stylist...think about who would be willing to work for a massive nationwide corporation with so little regard for their employees as to pay them minimum wage, with promises of big tips - which never arrive - most are 1.00 to 5.00 at best. The whole concept does not attract the type of clientele that by nature are big tippers. Most stylists learn this early and eventually move on to a higher end salon with higher end clientele. Therefore you will always have high turnover in these salons. The company's marketing strategy is to bring people in based on a price point. The people who think they can get a good haircut for 6.99 are dreaming. A person who is concerned about their appearance will not risk ruining their hair in a cheap establishment such as one who claims to be able to provide a quality cut for less than 10.00. The type of stylist you will encounter in this company are those fresh out of beauty school for the most part who have no practical training or experience. When Great Clips runs these ad campaigns with cheap prices they bring in the bottom of the barrel type people who have not cut their hair in months, some even have serious scalp conditions which make you want to gag when you have to work with it. Bottom line is, if you want a quality haircut go to a quality company and be prepared to pay a quality price. Only then will you have room to complain or a leg to stand on.

I hear you loud and clear......I was just let go from Great Clips today !!!.........because some big jerk comes in full of attitude wanting to cause a fight or something.  I was going to help my fellow stylist with adding something to this clients name on the computer because she doesn't know how to do it, and he proceeded to tell me to mind my own business and just kept going....it was craziness. When I went to say I was just trying to help....my boss told me to be quiet, so I did. I got so emotional from the [***] spewing out of this guys mouth, which was totally uncalled for, that I had to go outside and cry. Later in the day my boss called her husband to come in and they let us both go.....no explanation given. I am soooooo pissed. It was really hard working for this company to begin with, people come in with major attitude, (like I guess I'll give this joint a try....what do I have to loose !......or asking does anyone in here know how to cut hair.....LIKE REALLY, COME ON FOLKS.......WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS THAT SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT FOR OUR PROFESSION !! ) I've had many jobs in the past, good educated jobs....and I chose hairdressing because it is my passion, and I'm good at it. I've been a hairstylist for 20 years and I felt that I was sinking real low working for Great Clips, but I wanted a steady paycheck. Look what happens, I get treated like [***] every day and that's right, the people, especially in that neighborhood don't tip at all. Im glad I'm out of there .........I felt like the integrity of my haircutting was being jeopardized . GOOD RIDDENS GREAT CLIPS !!!.

I will say, that you are correct when you say that we are quick and efficient.  We are also asked (and trained) to give a haircut in a time frame.  The time frame ranges from 13 to 17 minutes , as this is what is taught to us to give the full service.  In my salon there is only one person out of eight stylist that is just out of beauty college.  The rest of us have been cutting hair for seven to twenty years or so! We are sent to an Academy, and highly trained on customer service.  There are circumstances that bring us to this type of work in our lives, or whatever it may be ... but, you are not correct when you claim we are all just out of Beauty College, or that we cannot WOW the customer in a short time frame. Don't blame one "bad" experience at a certain Salon on the whole entire Franchise!!

YEs we are timed on our Haircuts. I have to give a HC in less then 14min. Thant includes Womens styles also. My owner also wants  us to push product down peoples throat. And when we have the 6.99 Haircut specials you get some really strange and nasty people come out of the woodwork. And don't think you will get a raise down the line. They make it very difficult.

I have to agree with some of the post.  Great Clips pushes and pushes the employee to sale products.  Their pay is suppose to be hourly or commission whichever is greater.  BUT if the employee does NOT make their commission % they are warned then written up then fired.  But they tell you the product is "a professional recommendation".  Give me a break.  My granddaughter was on time for work, would fill in for other people that called out, fill in @ other salons @ $1.00 more an hour, they're work is timed, doesn't matter if a customer has hair down to her ankles or very short hair; no explanation approved for a timed lengthy haircut just a reprimand, she is early 20's does good work, constant harped on from the young, blonde manager, BUT because her products selling base did NOT make quota she was FIRED.  How can you make a customer buy a product when the service they receive is usually expensive!!   My daughter-in-law was fired because the area manager called and talked to the one in charge, couldn't understand that employee, asked to speak to another employee which the only one left was my daughter in law.  Manager started yelling, daughter in law told her she doesn't have to yell at her, in the end, she got FIRED.  So, she got fired because the manager couldn't understand the other employee.  NOT RIGHT!!!!   And she never could get past that manager when she called the head office to speak to her boss!!!!!!!

Went to Great Clips in Round Rock Texas @ Round Rock Crossing.
Presented a coupon up front, then when I checked out they refused to
honor it.  Mgr. Rude, Haircut butchered! I won't go back there again!
Sent a complaint to the home office and submitted all the details!
My wife called the local store and the manager was rude and hung up
on her when she asked her name!  Not a smart business strategy in the
current economy!  Consumers Beware!  Avoid this store location of Great
Clips at all costs! You will be very unhappy!

Not always the Case!  But unfortunately right a lot of the time!  Quality
is great but sometimes people want to simply check out a place to see
if it is worth it to come back!  That wasn't the case at the Great Clips
that I visited in Round Rock!  Avoid this low rent hair salon!

Well - I went and asked for a wash, cut, style - charge was over $40.00 - good hair wash, cut wasn't too bad, did not texture or layer like I asked and like the other girls had done.  Too much problem to put some mousse on my hair and blow it dry, said used curling iron, but when checked hunks of hair were not curled at all.  Needless to say, cancelled the next appt I had, went home and fixed it myself.  So much for trying a neighborhood shop, will go back to my hairdress who charges $60, but always looks great.  Yes, you get what you pay for, but I did not need the attitude and arguments -
