I just received a call at my work, from A "Mark Williams" saying he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs, saying he's calling me about a case against my Social Security #, and that I need to call Mike Carter right away, as he was filing a lawsuit against me. He had the last 4 digits of my social security number. He wouldn't tell me what the case was regarding and acted like I should have known about the lawsuit. Their phone number provided me is 415-952-5630. Unfortunately, because I didn't look this up in time, I gave them my cell phone number. I actually called to speak with Mike Carter, who was "out to court" and the guy mentioned he could help me. But when I asked about why I should be calling, he hung up and I called back and it hung up again. I'm calling the San Francisco District Attorney's Office about this and letting them know the phone number.

I just received a call from my husband, at work.  They called my husband at work!  My husband called me to call them to see what was going on with this.  He said it had to do with something about social security also.  He said it was a foreign person.  The name was Jessica Miller.  I called that number and a man answered, he didn't tell me his name.  He hung up when I started asking what their address was.  He just said it is in California, why do you need anything else and he couldn't talk to me because I was a third party.  He  is a foreign person.  Something has to be done about these people.  I did a reverse phone # search.  The call was placed from San Francisco, CA.

Just received the same call, same name, Michael Carter and same reason for calling. Protect yourself, ask for a call back number, name of a supervisor, website, fax and email address. Once you finally talk with someone, have them send all details to you in writing, by certified letter. Report this to the Post Office investigators and also file a complaint with the State of California as the call comes out of San Francisco.

Though I received the previously mentioned 415#, every time I'd called that #, I did reach someone, but I told them straight up that I'd found them to be fraudulent and they hung up immediately. I told them I was told to speak with Michael Carter and every time, he'd supposedly been in court and unavailable, and they even would be speaking with someone in their office about it. Too funny, but sad that they can somehow obtain your address and social security number. I've since become a LifeLock member for $25 per month. Any inquiry into my credit or application for loans and especially anything having to do with my SS# I get an email alert. Great investment..

I received the same call the night before Thanksgiving from someone named Eric Wilson, who obviously had a foreign accent calling from the number 415 -952-5630. Claiming that that they were filing charges against me and that the Sheffiffs were coming to my home. They also called my place of business yesterday. I called the FTC this morning at 877-382-4257 and filed a complaint against them

I just took a call from 909 727 6157, X 7594.  They said they were from the US Government, Us Department of Legal Affairs, US Treasury.  Austin Mathew Black,  Badge number 1632.  He threatened I would was about to be arrested in the next 45 minutes for 3 major crimes against me for not paying taxes.  I wont go into the details.   Yes,  heavy foreign accent.  He wanted my attorney to call back and I believe he was going to ask for $50000 when I called back.  No.  I did not call back.

Still waiting for the Sheriff to come pick me up. I did however call the FTC and file a complaint,  Thanks for the number on this thread.

"Tyson" left a message for us today too. Ignore it, don't give any info. I did listen to it 4 or 5 times trying to understand it and determine if it was legit. After veiled threats ( if we don't have time our "retainer" or "retainage" - I assume that's a bad translation for lawyer- should call) he told told us to have a blessed day and god bless us.   You really get a sense of the antipathy against Americans from these scams.

Just had a call from another male of Indian descent, left a message that my husband had to call back immediately or have his lawyer call.  Aaron Rodgers from the Dept of Legal Affairs, regarding an enforcement against him.  New number to call back is 213-536-0575, which I did call, spoke with another Indian, and didn't get anywhere, but the guy did say for me not to waste his time, to have my husband call back.  The end of the message said Have a blessed day and God bless...

Same as above, I received call for my husband, from officer Aaron James, regarding an offense. To call this number or be arrested for -_**__" crimes. It's urgent. Thick English accent, and ended with have a blessed day?? Hard to understand, but calling local DA, n State of Ca, to record it and give the phone #718.673.3634. We're in our 60's , wondering if they are scamming just older people? Thanks for all your info. Oh, I got mad and gave my cell # as my home phone has no long distance. So look up this before speaking to them, n change all your passwords, often!!

I got a phone this morning and the girl identified herself as Rachel Smith from Internal Affairs. So I called back and asked who's in charge and what the call was all about. Then the man with a thick accent started asking for my information after telling him my first name. All I told him was that they were the one who called me so why do they still need my information if they already saw it on file that I owe something. The guys actually hanged up the phone. I believe they are trying to scare the good citizen hoping someone would take their bait. As long as you and I don't owe anything, we shouldn't entertain such manipulative con artist. But if we owe something check again if the company calling us is legit.
