I received call on my cell phone so full of static I could not understand caller with his heavy accent. Hung up. He called nine more times within three minutes. He left a threatening message on his tenth. He calls from unavailable or 1-028-551-013. The number he left for me to return his call is 858-777-1977.Two hours later he was going to start up again. I called him what he was, told him my detective husband would call him at 5pm. He hung up. His last call to me was at 2:50pm. I called him back at 3:20pm to ask for his address. He didn't know. He only knew he is a law firm in California. When I said I needed his exact location for the police, he put me on hold. It's now 10pm and he still hasn't called me back.

Reported to be scammers based in India attempting to con people using threats.

Some reports indicate they may have obtained access to old payday loan information, which would give them identity and bank account information, but many consumers claim any past payday loans were already paid off, and others claim they never had any such loan.  Most consumer complaints indicate the allegations of any owed debt are bogus.

There were several related debt collectors in the Jacksonville FL area employing similar tactics.  The Florida AG shut down several of them, including one, "Ellis Crosby", that was reported to have had an Indian call center.  ABC News has done a story on these crooks, and the West Virginia AG had a press release warning of their calls.

They commonly make threats, claim to be attorneys, claim to be suing, claim they will arrest you, claim you will be prosecuted, etc.  They also commonly use names chosen to sound very "American", even though they have thick Indian accents that many report they can hardly understand.

Odds are they are not "attorneys", not a "law firm", not in "California", not "American Credit Services", they do not "sue", "arrest", "have a warrant", etc.  They are overseas crooks, using cheap internet phone service and illegally obtained consumer identity information to try to con Americans.  They violate laws all the time but could care less since they figure they are half-way around the world.

If they call you back, tell them to call this number (and then give them your local police department non emergency number).

My husband started getting phone calls from this last night, with some out of the country number.  They kept trying to get us to verify social security number and other information.  Today they left him voicemails that he had to pay $5,000 or be in very big trouble.  What a joke.

This is the second time this has happened in two weeks. The gentleman on the other end of the phone didn't even have my correct ss#. He argued with me for 20 minutes. The phone kept going in and out. He claimed I owed a payday loan, which I do, however he wouldn't send me any information in writing! I agreed (to him) to send money but refused to give my bank information. He said there was a lawsuit against me. He wanted me to fax this ridiculous letter Saying I was sorry for any inconvenience it caused the company(which he wouldn't tell me who) and that I never intended to "run away" with the money!! do you believe this?? I am not sending a dime!! They threatened to call my employer. Let them. My employer will take a message. I'm furious.

The same thing happened to me a second time today, and has happened to me before about 7 months ago. This Heavy Accented caller tried saying I owed them money that I never paid back with a PayDay Loan.  He argued with me for a good 15-30 minutes trying to get more information from me.
They informed me of my bank information and I asked them for my Case # because I had never recieved a deposit, they got even more rude.  They said I committed fraud and there is a law suit against me which they will take to court.  They tried to have me give them my full SSN, big Joke
Some people will fall for this. .

    us needing help
i've received a phone call from acs a few days ago and due to my previous experience with these scammers, i stayed calm and collected entertaining these idiots, listening to their line of b.s. especially when someone introduces themselves as shaun watson which is a very american name and here is this p.o.s. with an mideastern accent. many of these victims stories and experiences are all summed up the same way and at times we seem to find ourselves helpless and so vulnerable and at the least, furious. to the law enforcement agencies out there, fbi, police, and law firms, it would be nice if one of your authorities or representatives let us know and even leave a message that you are paying attention to the complaints and issues of how we are being victimized by these scums and that even though the monetary value may not be so huge, it has grave impact and consequences of what we have to deal with financially and emotionally. track and catch these crooks and put them in their rightful place. and to you scums, i am hopeful that the days are numbered where you'll start to worry that your end is near.

YES! They just called me today and said I was guilty of check fraud, etc. The guys names were Neil Johnson and David Jones. They were screaming at me and telling me that I was guilty of check fraud...hmmm...I have overdraft...not sure how that could happen. Then he said there was a lawsuit against me. Luckily I had already checked and knew there was not...when I told him that he was lying he got really really mad and called me names. The number they called from was a 909 number but the number id was 11 then about a million numbers....they are totally fraudulent and scare people! Don't believe them and do NOT give them any information! We filed a police report.

I received about 4 calls a couple of months ago. They threatened to send the "Cops" right over. I told them I would be waiting. Then yesterday I received three calls at work and one at home. They wanted my wife to give them my SSN. When she wouldn't they said that they would be calling the FBI...LMAO! They called this morning at my job and said that it was an emergency and they had to speak with me NOW. They were put on hold....I hope it ran their phone bill up...LOL!

    wronged but not stupid
A man with a thick Indian accent left a theatening message on my work voice mail. He said that he was from ACS and there was a levy on my social security number. He told me to call him back at 813-434-4611. When I called back I got a differnt man with a heavy indian accent and he asked for my telephone number to verify the account. I gave him three different numbers and he said that he couldn't pull up my account with any of those numbers. There was a lot of static and noise in the background and when I asked a few more questions he hung up on me. Bang! I called back a few days later (after having driven myself into a nervous frenzy). I got a different guy this time with the same heavy Indian accent who asked for my phone number. Same thing-he said he couldn't pull up my account information with the numbers that I provided. Then he asked for my social security number. That's when I said that I needed to verify the comapny he represented. He said he was from a law firm in Florida. When I asked him another question he hung up on me. Bam! At least I wasn't stupid enough to give him my social security # (although I did give hime three telephone contact numbers). When I got off of the phone I called my lawyer and went on line, only to find out that, yes, ACS from Florida is a scam. Thank god for the internet!
