I received call on my cell phone so full of static I could not understand caller with his heavy accent. Hung up. He called nine more times within three minutes. He left a threatening message on his tenth. He calls from unavailable or 1-028-551-013. The number he left for me to return his call is 858-777-1977.Two hours later he was going to start up again. I called him what he was, told him my detective husband would call him at 5pm. He hung up. His last call to me was at 2:50pm. I called him back at 3:20pm to ask for his address. He didn't know. He only knew he is a law firm in California. When I said I needed his exact location for the police, he put me on hold. It's now 10pm and he still hasn't called me back.

    Don't Owe A Thing.
I have been receiving numerous calls from ACS a lady with a very thick Indian accent leaving threaten phone message. Stating if I do not return her call I will be in big trouble and she wish me luck.  What kind of law firm does that. None that I know of, they might sy its urgent that you return the call bur they dont have you believe tht you are in grave danger.  I finally was able to speak to someone after continually calling back the number 1-716-442-2824 and a man answer with a thick accent stating he was an attorney and that I owed a payday loan from a comapny from Nov 2008. I asked him to provide documents and he stated he could not until the loan was paid off.  He also stated that the original loan was $350 but now it is $1113.00.  I told him I dont remember having and outstanding bill for that amount and if he could send me something showing a breakdown, he stated no the law do not allow him to do so, then I asked him for the number for the loan co, he stated he could connect me but could not give me the number and got angry when I asked for it.  I have never heard of such a thing cannot provide documents. and when I continued to ask him for there number he got angry.  But insisted that if I dont pay I will have to pay a larger amount. Then I said I would obtain the number and for him to call me back on friday, that I am going to have to check this out and confer with my attorney her got even more angry.  This is rediculous and it should be away to stop this from occuring. He just kept on saying that I need to pay this today then he will send me something showing that I owe this. That is backwards.......

WOW!  I am so freaking glad that I found this site because with all the financial stress my husband and I are under right now with me getting laid off and his hours being cut back.  I get this phone call from an "unavailable" number on my cell phone so I let it go to voicemail.  When I listened to it it was middle eastern accent women's voice telling me that they have a case on my ss# and family suspects and police with warrants at my front door monday morning and blah blah blah freaked me out I am like what the heck and then she proceeded to tell me her name was Lisa Rona (I believe that was the last name) and to call her at 1-716-442-2824.  I called the number back and this man picked up the phone and said "hello" completely through me off guard because I expected someone to say a business name ya know and then when I stated that someone from this number called me and left a disturbing message and I would like to get to the bottom of it.  When I asked him about the company name he first said he was an attorney and then I asked for the law firm name he stated ACS and then when I asked him what kind of attorney's answer the phone like hello he said that he worked in the back end I was like okay whatever and then he wanted me to verify my social and I said I wasnt verifying anything to you I dont know who you are.  I asked him what all this was about and he stated that it was in reference to a payday loan that I supposedly took out 3 years ago.  Our converstation lasted about 30 minutes to long.  I have never had a payday loan.  I have applied for them but always got turned down.  The story above this box the one marked "dont owe a thing" sounds exactly like my situation.

    I fell for it...
I started recieving calls from the number 0000. The man with a heavy Indian accent named, Office Michael Woods kept calling and told me I would be arressted for fraud and taken to court if I did not payback a pay day loan I took out in 2008. I got scared and found my contract with the company money and more. The company no longer exists. I could not get ahold of them and beleived this man. He knew my ssn, my old adress and my old bank information. I repeatedly asked him to send me a letter saying what and to who I exactly owe. He told me he would. I did take out a pay day loan in 2008 for $245, so I felt like this was real. I paid the thief! Then he called me today threatening me gain. He said when he went to process my letter he found that I had another outstanding loan. I knew this was false. I told him that someone must have stolen my idenity. I hung up and he called back three times. I called my bank and the FBI right away. The FBI was firmialr with this scam. I called the number back and told them that the FBI was warned he got angry and hung up. I tried to call back for 2 hours and it said all curcuits busy. Finally I just reached him again and it was the same man going by the name of Brendan. This is a real scam!!!! The worst part is that this man somehow got all of my information and could easily steel my idenity too

Received 2 phone calls from a Jimmy saying he was representing ACS Law
firm.  Very heavy foreign accent that I owed money.  Before he could go
on I advised him to go on the internet and he will find out that he is
a fraud and he is the one committing the crime.

He said I was rude and hung up on me.  Do not give these people any
single penny.  They are robbing innocent people of their hard working
money.   They cannot come up with any back up paper work.  They are liars.

Which law firm would call you and at the end of their message,  would
say and may God Bless You.

I also have been victims by three other company's New york lawerys something like that and ACS. You call them the threats are ridicilous and you call back days later and the number is disconnected. I wish the FBI or somebody can trace this calls and stop these people. I have done a lot of research on this subject the last few weeks and in these tough times I am reading how people are giving money over they don't have (mortgage & food money) because they are scared of the threats. If you did happen to give money even if they had you sign something saying you will not dispute charges go to your bank and see if they can file a fraud claim and see if you can get your money back. It doesn't hurt to try.

    They have my ss#
I got a call today at work telling me that I owed $350.00and if I didn't pay it right now with my debit card that I was going to be in trouble. I told them that I didn't have a debit card and they said you are lying you have a debit card and you have to pay this or I am going to have to go to court and I will lose and then have to pay $5000.00. This is a scam and I hope they get caught. There was a guy that called me and then a lady got on the phone, said her name was Kathy Watson (she had bad english)and the number she gave me was (646)918-5986! Thanks for this website for assuring me that it was a scam, but I dont know what to do because they have my ss# and everything!

I too fell pray to this type of scam. A guy named Brian Smith (ya right) called and said that I took a payday loan out and was being sued for it.
    1. I have never taken a loan out in my life.
    2. This guy cussed and hung up the phone on myself and my husband when we asked for his information. Before doing so, he made me believe that he was real and I verafied my address, social and all.
I made a plan to call him back and say that I was a buisness owner and the phone number was on the phone bill and I was wanting to know who it was.. He told me he was out of ACS Lawfirm and I looked it up and this is what I got!!
This is a huge scam and I hope that people don't give them the information they are looking for as I did!

I am getting calls on a different number, 7168053301, but seems to be same group.  I have spent the whole day bawlig and freaking out!  They claim that they are not trying to collect a debt any more, but have "purchased" the worthless checks people wrote for payday loans and are now prosecuting.  Trying to tell me there are 3 federal charges against me and that tomorrow morning, there will be police officers at my office to arrest me.  I am petrified.  I did have these loans from when life was even more desperate than now and I will NEVER get another one.  But I just filed bankruptcy and am awaiting a case number.  Still very, very afraid.

Male caller with a thick Indian accent identified himself as officer Jim Smith, badge number 21656. I am familiar with this scam, but I let him speak briefly. He stated he was with the legal dept of ACS and he had the last four of my social. He called my cell at 1:08pm and then my work at 1:10pm. The voicemail he left on my cell stated they would take legal action against me but I have no outstanding debts. I spoke to him on my office line and I told him not to call me at work since I was aware of the scam. He said it was the first time he called (lie, they just call from different numbers) and when he began to stammer I said, I'm not going to argue with you, goodbye and hung up. I saved the voicemail on my cell as evidence and now I am off to file complaints with everyone & anyone that will listen.

He called me back 3 times later, back to back, on the same day, said his name was Sam Smith, counselor this time. I said I couldn't understand his accent and so he handed the phone to someone who's accent was not as thick. He said his name was Danny Don. He began to threaten me and when I advised him that I'd already filed complaints with the FTC & the NY State Attorney General. He kept trying to overt-talk me, saying we will take your car (ha, I don't drive) and make me cry. He also said my attorney is in his pocket and I could call him Big Daddy. He called back (the ID is 000-000-0000) less than a minute later. I answered, "Is this Big Daddy?" and he said no. He started his spiel again & I stated I was familiar with the scam. He repeated that my attorney is in his pocket again, his left pocket. I disconnected. He called back the third time and I didn't say anything when I answered, and after stating hello about 8 times he disconnected.

They are a scam. What you can do, get a fax number or an address. Write them a letter or even fax it to them stating not to call again. If they do then basically you can file crimal charges. It is a scam. It is on youtube where you can type in payday loans scam and see one from ABC and the BBB better business burial.
