I read a few blogs about a merchant service(squareup.com)on an excusve website.  I decided to use the service and accepted over eight hundred dollars in payments through them.  The problem is they will not send the funds due to my designated business account and I have now idea how to collect my money from them.  They continue not to answer my numerous complaints and requests for assistance.  They claim to answer every request personally which is deceptive.  On my first complaint, they personally sent me a list of measures for a certain proceedure which was fruitless and had nothing to do with my complaint.  If it was not for You Tube, I would have still been stuck on the application complaint.

    Starbucks better Smarten up and avoid Square like the plague!

    Over Six months and Square is still holding over $6000 of our money. Original hold was for over 50K! The only way I got any of it back was to refund all the charges and then re-run them with a new processor. The last $6000+ they refused to allow me to refund and they are still holding it after SIX MONTHS.

    This company is HORRIBLE. It has so many complaints and the way they hold peoples money is unconscionable! They have NO regard as to how this effects a small business! In my opinion they are probably robbing Peter to pay Paul.

    Starbucks who is investing another 25 million? Maybe then we will get paid, Otherwise they will probably declare bankruptcy and we will get nothing. WARNING ~ STAY AWAY!

    I first started using square early this year. I have accepted payments as small as $10 and as large as $2300. I now have started a small business and am starting to use it on a regular basis. So far I have not had a single problem and I am suprised at the criticism leveled at the company on this site. People calling Square "scam" and "shady." Visa and Starbucks, Brandson and Dorsey - these are just a few of the very reputable sponsers backing Square. These backers outweigh all the negative comments from random internet people.

    Read the disclosures - know what you are signing up for, if you have issues call the number(415-375-3176) or send them an email via squareup.com. They are not perfect, but at the rate they are growing and improving I bet they are the number one CC processor within 5 years.

    Squre is not capable of handling large transactions, they also have horrible and little customer service, I would not use these guys for anything over $10.00. what a joke this company is

    why l can not sigin in to my account,l can not be able to use my sqaure swipe reader.my passward can be reconginzed to sigin in to my account.

    The best thing you guys can do if you are having proplems with them is report them to the BBB (better business bureau. you can find their page here and them issue a complaint.

    I used Square one time and I will never use them again. They held up a $7,000 payment for almost 30 days.

    I found him on FB and sent him numerous messages. I sent his girlfriend messages on FB and all his twittter co-creators also received messages from me.

    Despite my efforts it took nearly 30 days.

    Square needs to be put out of business. Fraud, fraud fraudulent business.

    Do yourself a favor DON'T USE SQUARE FOR ANY REASON.

    This happened six months ago and I'm still pissed off.
    The attorney general is a joke they didn't help at all.

    i used square up card reader to charge payment ,i swipe three time with my costumer viss card but when i check my business account there is no transaction  .i wanna know why money dosent go to my account i had register squarup to my account  but then also it do not  work why ?

    Really trying to ascertain what percentage of this site is filled with disgruntled merchant service sales people losing their shirts versus authentic small business people. For the record, I've had zero issues with my Square Register.

      I'd say about 40% "disgruntled merchant service sales people losing their shirts", about 30% people who don't read the Terms Of Service on a major aspect of their business (i.e. idiots), 20% people with a legitimate issue, and 10% people like you who've had no problems whatsoever.

    I tried Square and got screwed on their high 2.75%+ rate with absolutely NO support (NO phone support whatsoever).  I signed up with EXS ( www.EXSCreditCardProcessing.com ) (877-865-7744) because i got a FREE Credit Card Reader, LOW 1.09% swipe rate and i receive 24/7 Phone support.  Not only am i saving money when processing cards, i get the quick support i need. Plus they have an 'A+' Better Business Bureau Rating...was an easy decision for me. My agent at EXS is Eric...ask for him....

    I guess I'll stick to Bank of America! My sister is missing a deposit from square of more than $800.00 dlls., this is crazy, she ownes a small business and this stuff hurts her operation. #square is #bad for #business

    squareup is stting on your money when we test the credit cards over their sytem for testing amount like 10$ its goes thru my bank account but when charge my customer for amount over 1000$ then without any warning before swipe their system start to ask for alot of paper works so i did ask them refund the money to customer account they still charge you insane amount but no return awful this is totally scam to sit on your money when make search i found out alot of people here New York city in same thing so be aware try any other merchant services

    If my transcation is suspicious for them i ask for return to credit card owner
    if it not then put my bank account

    but no contact no pphone number and no answer the only answer with mail after a week still ask for paper works The only way to get money from them is Attorney Genaral i think

    Square Up Square Holding money for months, unanswered emails and can't contact by phone Internet

    I have a small bailbonding company where we really need a good credit card processor.I have tried Leaders and Bankcard and found both to be terrible customer service, they lie about fees and charges,they are hard to get rid of...We have tried cancelling Leaders and get no response from them other than to double the withdrawls they attempt to make from our acct.They wont come pick up the equipment to terminate our relationship, they hold money for up to 6 months and talk hatefully to anyone that complains.BankCard is no better if not worse.They ALL seem to be crooks and need investigated and taken out of their seeming seat of immunity. They have ALL been crooks.

    Hmmmmm. Just reading all the posts regarding customer service and decided to call the number that was posted:   ((415) 375-3176) . When the recording came on, "it" said,  Welcome to Square.Also,  If I knew my parties extension to enter it now. (Nope, I don't have one because I have never called  before). Then "it" told me to "stay on the line". (Well, but I course I will to see if I could talk to anyone). Then "it" told me that in order to receive answers within 24 hours to email Help@square.com. And then "IT" hung up on me. Waaahhhhhh!    It appears that "It" would be a "good thing" IF there one did not encounter any problems. I am definitely "wavering" on this!!!!!!!

    SQUARE:       disabled my account w no notice at a  craftshow  i am doing,uggghhhh, custm. serv, kept saying refer to email, i didnt get, one !!!!!!!!!! wtf? do i do now?
