WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

If you charged the washer on a credit card, check if the card doubles the warranty. I have the same washer an it is a piece of crap. My washer is 2 1/2 years old so doubling the warranty is no help to me.

I have the same problem and till owe 150.00 on it.  The water level never covers the clothes and I have to add at least 2 full dish pans of water to the washer every time.  It misjudges the water level by a long shot and moans and groans for an hour.  It should be illegal to sell such crap and I never complain about anything!

    Dissappointed
I have always had Maytag appliances, but I am so sorry I got this Centennial washer in Sept. 2012 at Home Depo.  I was completely surprised to find out I had to use a Downy ball to dispense the softener!!  Half the time it leaves blue spots on the clothes and I have to rewash or rinse again.  It also leaves the clothes spinned so hard that if I want to hang something to dry (like jeans) they have tons of wrinkles in them.  Sometimes it will leak on the floor for no reason as we have checked the hoses.  Also extremely noisy.  I wish I would have looked for some reviews before purchasing this machine, but I just assumed Maytag would have a good product as in the past.  I would really like to return this machine!!

This is by far the worst machine i have ever purchased... Takes a long long time to wash, wastes too much water and energy, makes too much noise, changes cycles for no reason, and now it has stopped working... It sounds like is washing but it does nothing... Im so dissapointed because for the money that it costs the maytag machine is just a TOTAL JUNK... Just an advice... DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF $hit...

This is what I wrote to corporat:
We bought your model MVWC 300XW0 - Serial C11520708 top load washer Centennial w/commercial technology in July, 2011. About two months ago it started making grinding noises in the wash cycle which have increased to a point that it now sounds like a thrashing machine.  We were happy with the operation, etc for the first year but are now very unhappy with a washer we expected to last for many trouble free years, given the Maytag label. The Whirlpool washer we replaced with this Maytag lasted for over 12 years and since Whirlpool now owns Maytag, we are reluctant to ever buy either brand again, that is,  unless you can do something to fix this washer without our having to spend money for repairs.  Please let us know of your decision. Thanks

i bought a Maytag Centennial washer to replace a sears front loader that died after several years of trouble free service. I paid over $200 to have the washer shipped to my apts in King Salmon, AK. After about 5 weeks of being in service the Maytag up and died leaving my tenants without a washer, now going on 2 months as I have yet to get the problem resolved or the machine replaced. I have invested approximately 30 hrs trying to resolve this with Whirlpool and Lowe's. I have made numerous phone calls to both, provided model and serial number information mulitple times, to both, and just today, with the nomencalture tag in hand (removed and mailed to me by my tenant) went to Lowe's to finally get a replacement machine to ship out again to King Salmon but...the person who could help me is "off til Friday." I am so irate I could eat the damn machine and spit bullets. Maytag has gone to the dogs, completely. Customer service is out of the question with Whirlpool or whomever answered the 800# I was provided. No follow-up, lost info, no tracking of the issue, no customer concern whatsoever on thier part,. numerous repeat phone calls from an assortment of thier employees (had aonther one today asking for the serial number again). Run Run Run from this product. IT is a bonifide piece of junk!!! God help us if all appliances suffer the same fate.

They last time I will buy anything that says Maytag on it and Home Depot should not be proud to sell that junk. That is a lot of money to waste on something that don't even clean your clothes.

I bought on in 2011 from Home Depot and have never been able to wash pillows or blankets. Every time I do the water never drains and they are completely and totally dripping wet and the fabric softener hasn't came out of the top piece. I guess you can't wash pillows and/or blankets in this piece of crap. By far and away the worst washer I have ever used!!!!!!!!!

You're not supposed to wash pillows in it. Follow directions!

Run away, as fast as you can!  Absolute junk machine.  Mine was from Lowes bought 2011.  Horrible results, won't spin out, lint all over clothes.  I think a class action lawsuit needs to be pursued against Maytag to replace these machines.  For now, I am going to look for an old working machine off Craigslist without that damned locking piece of crap.  Shameful this is made in U.S.A.??!!??

You can unlock by holding button 3 seconds. All the complaints on here I've seen have to do with not following simple instructions! Water level is not supposed to be higher than clothes!

Actually, I can hold the *#$& button down 3 seconds, release, still locked.  Repeat, repeat, repeat.  Just because you haven't had this problem does not negate the fact that MANY of us do have this problem.  Right now my husband's work clothes are trapped in the machine!  It's 10:30 pm at night and I WANT TO DRY HIS WORKCLOTHES!

    Very Disappointed
I bought this machine over a year ago.  It does not clean the clothes well; it cuts off the water level before enough water is in the machine to clean.  I have had to wash a shirt 3 times with Tide to remove a simple food stain and the clothes frequently still smell of body odor after washing.  So I rewash.

Now the machine is "walking" 8 inches with every spin.  It is loud and sounds like the drum is beating the sides of the machine.  I can see the vibrating from the next room.  The repairman charged me $79.95 service call to say my floor is not level (same floor as previous washer with no problem.).  His idea is to purchase 3/4 inch plywood to put under the machine and attach it to the floor.  I called Maytag customer service and was told the same thing.

I will not waste time or more money trying to"make-do" with this pitiful excuse for a washing machine!  I'm very disappointed with this Maytag product and will try another brand next.
