WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

I bought my Maytag Centenial  from Home depot in Johnston R.I. in March 2012. From day 1 it has given me problems. Close come out with spots and some clothes are still not wet at all. Most times the water level is not even close to covering the clothes(yes I know they say this is normal-yeah right) Most of my towels have holes in them and are ripped from this machine. Repairmen have been at my house at least twice. "nothing wrong here" they say. I will never buy a Maytag product again and I'm looking at my legal rights regarding this so called washing machine.

As I read through all these responses, I have yet to come across one that I am NOT in agreement with.  Here I'm thinking it's something I was not doing right with this machine, but now that I hear others, I find that I'm not alone.  Clothes are always wet, always stained with either dirt, or the blue streaking of the detergent, clothes still smell after washing, I've bascially ruined all my household towels, becuase you can't get rid of the smell.   I'm spending more on detergent and extra smell good items to relieve this issue, using the extra drain/spin cycle over and over again.  And yes I too, have figured out that smaller loads with similar light weight items work better....but this defeats the purpose of having a heavy duty washer with no agitator for bigger loads right.  I agree THIS MACHINE SUCKS AND WE HATE IT.  Cincinnati, Ohio.

I bought a maytag centenial washer model mvwc400x w0-Nothing but problems from the start. This is the 3rd time a repairman is coming to try and repair it. Last night clothes were dripping wety after the wash was done. Spots appear on my wash ed clothes and I'm running out of towels as the machine keeps ripping them and other clothes up. I'm ready to file a small claims court case against this company!!!  Totally infuriating!!!

I've hd this machine since 2011, and agree with all the comments.. How many times I've wished I had my old 17 year old Kenmore back.  I could have had it fixed and would have clean clothes that looked and smelled like they had been washed!   My husband's tee shirts are so dingy, I'm embarrassed for him them o wear them.  Whatever happened to quality in America.  I have a friend who bought a Whirool and is just as unhappy with her machine.

What happened to good quality made products? Maytag was a symbol of quality, now I will not buy another Maytag again. Fortunate for me, I learned that Whirlpool owns this product, so I won't buy that product either. I plan to spread the word about these products to everyone I know. Maybe we should look to China for a better made product;)

    Ridiculous
Yes, this is the washer from hell. I haven't had it 2 years and I am not fixing it again. The last time I took to a repair center to save the call fee and it still cost me $150 2 months ago. Now it is making all kinds of bad noises on the spin cycle and while agitating, but not all the time....??? I really hate this washer.

We got our Maytag top loading Centennial washer a short time ago.  It worked fine for awhile and then the spin dry stopped working.  The clothes all come out soaking wet now and have to be hand wrung before drying.  The repair person would cost more than a new machine.   Very disappointed.

Same issue as Irene and Aurthur. Our machine made it exactly 24 months. Will never buy a Maytag again.

My last Maytag was over 20 yrs old when I bought this joke of a machine 2 yrs ago.  I am a senior citizen and my Mother used Maytag as it used to be a dependable product...apparently not any more.

I regret having bought this machine, the Maytag Centennial Washing Machine which is turning out to be the worst appliance I ever owned. It either spins the clothes so hard that you have to take them out and extract them from each other, or, if you move it to a gentler spinning, you can then squeeze the water by hand. Also, can someone tell me what to do after I add a piece of clothing half-way through? If I push the button to start, it starts back again at the very beginning, If I just close the lid, nothing happens! Pppplease, ppplease,I dread doing a wash. There is a reason it is the cheapest of the washing machines! It's not worth anything....

This washing machine is the worst purchase I gave ever made! So much for customer service, it totally sucks. Purchased on December of 2011, so it's just almost 1.5 years old and it is not spinning. Maytag says "sorry, out of warranty". They wanted to charge $320 to come out and repair and receive another year warranty, do I have "stupid" written on my forehead??? I will make sure I am very vocal to anyone I know about Maytag products "DO NOT BUY!!!!"

Have had this machine for 2 yrs and it make the clothes stink! They smell horrible and are never truly clean. Now it refuses to drain and the clothes have to be wrung out by hand. I will never by a Maytag again!

We bought ours 2 months ago and it sucks. It takes over a hour to wash and clothes still come out dirty and smelly. We have always bought GE products and thought we would try a Maytag since they were made in Iowa and what a piece of junk we got. And of course they will not take it back because there is nothing wrong with they say. I hate it!!!! I think a lawsuit should be filed on it.

I have had the machine for about 6 months of aggravation! All the complaints listed here all fit my machine. One thing in particular aggravates me among all the others. Have you ever opened the lid to add a piece of clothing as I tried? What happens after that? Do you start over again from the beginning? If you just close the machine, do you push the button again, and does it take off from where you stopped it for adding a piece of clothing? If you just shut the lid, it does NOTHING. IT DOES NOT WASH, IT DOES NOT SPIN, IT DOES NOT RINSE, NADA! Nothing is listed in the meager instructions, just wait 3 seconds before opening the lid. OK. Then what? I have written to Maytag but guess what? No answer. I would like to resell the machine, but I thinkI would make an instant enemy for fraud.

    So very frustrated!!!
I've had the SAME problems as all of you.  My 1 year warranty expired. Noticed that the cycle took forever since day one, but thought it may have had something to do with it being "energy efficient" (this was my first... and last!).  Now today my "lid lock" mechanism (which I hated from the start, won't UNLOCK!

My wet clothes are now STUCK in my machine!

Has ANYONE out there had any success with getting Maytag to resolve these issues without charging a fortune?
