WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

I bought the Maytag Centennial washer this year for our vacation property.  This machine is the worst washer I have ever owned.  I should have visited the junk man that I got the used washer from that I have been using for 7 years at our home.  DO NOT EVER BY A MAYTAG ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First day of use it leaked on the floor.  Tech came out, saw signs that had leaked, but could not duplicate the leak.  If you use the heavy duty mode, it will shred t-shirts, underwear, and other lighter weight garments.

We had a constant battle to re-balance this washer.  Solution, only wash light weight items together, Jeans in another load. towels in a separate load and never leave it unattended.  Our 5 loads a week have gone to 7-8 loads.

This washer is finally paid off.  I will replace it and move it to my office/apartment, where I only wash about one light load a month.  Do not buy this washer for normal household use.

the maytag centennial is of the devil. Spawned of hell, this device is bent on the destruction of the human race, and I for one and getting it out of my house. Never cleans, always leaving clothes wet, off balance (like the designers of this piece of junk) and has a funny odor. Run from this.....

Hate this machine! Clothes stinks cuz there is not enough water in the drum since it "senses" the load for you. I have to override that sensor and re-rinse my wash every time. Thus, waste more time, water and energy. This expensive Centennial washer broke after 2 years! (I used my old Kenmore washer for 13+ yrs before it broke). The washer is "stuck" on the agitation mode and would not fill up with water.  I am torn between getting rid of this thing or spending more money to fix it since my warranty is over. I would not buy another Maytag product again!  Overated and expensive!

A  I relative gave me a Maytag Centennial. Now I know why. It is junk.
It doesn't fill with water. It doesn't clean my clothes. It only starts when it gets ready. The sensor
is messed up. Sometimes it goes into spin cycle before it washes then skips the wash cycle and
goes off.I hate the locking system . I found out from a neighbor that they have one that does the
same thing. Maytag is just junk.

Yes ours is also working badly. At first we thought it was the sensor or something to do with the lock on the door. It got loud when washing clothes then eventually quit washing them. Our Maytag centennial goes from sensing, to filling up with water to draining the water out with NO wash cycle!! With 3 kids this is a pain in the butt! Now I know why it was on discount when we bought it. Next time I will be sure to check reviews on washing machines before buying!

I'm very upset with this washer as well.  Every time I start a load the washer does not fill up but it rinses.  Piece of crap washer. After the load is done my clothes are very wet and I have to repeat the spin cycle again.  This takes a long time to wash a load wasting water and electricity.  I will never buy a MAYTAG washer again. I've owned mines for about 3 years and my problems start now.  Before this I had a Roper washer and got about 15 years out of it.

I decided to buy a Maytag Centennial in 2011 because my old Maytag had lasted for 34 years and still looked new. I am still using my Maytag dryer which is now 34 years old and we have been a family of four. The day I first ran the new Maytag I thought a freight train was going through our laundry room. I called the company that I had use for years for appliance repairs and the repair man ran the machine and told me that unfortunately there was nothing wrong, the machine just made that amount of noice. Good thing the laundry room was downstairs by the garage. Then after a few months I noticed our towels were unraveling along the edges. These had been towels that we had used for a number of years and still looked new. Now they look shameful. Also, I had to start putting anything made of a delicate fabric in mesh bags to keep them from being torn apart. This is a nuisance and time consuming. I will never buy another Maytag!!!

I agree Very Upset.  This washer is a piece of junk!  I, too, had a Maytag washer for over 30 years and it worked great.  I will NEVER buy another Maytag, now made by Whirlpool, or any product that is made by them - and there are a few other brands they make.  Be careful, consumers!  Cheap crap made in Mexico!

2 year old Maytag Centennial washer starts agitating while filling with water, and without water while agitating, it will rip the clothes.  Thus, can only fill with water then fill with clothes, then restart cycle......I also agree the automatic fill level is way off and requires several interruptions to fill half way with water!  My last washer, a GE, lasted 10 years without any problem.  Come on Maytag, where's your reliability???????

    OMG!
Too bad you cannot run a load of wash at the dealer prior to purchasing the product!  If I could have done that I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED this Maytag Centennial!
I echo what has been said above... The long length of time to fill & run... The odor... The wet clothes... The rebalance...what a joke... High efficiency ...you have got to be kidding... Never again Maytag... The Maytag repair man must be very busy... Unless people are just giving up Maytags & then he can retire.

After 2 years of working ok (occasional problems spinning) it is now acting up bad. The only way I can get it to spin is use the drain & spin option and sit on it until it is done (after the wash cycle of course) I wish I could find an old fashioned washer that you can leave open till its full of water so you can see how much it is using and fill your softener cup with water to rinse it out.
