WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

I also own a Maytag Centennial. I have been unhappy with this machine since the day I bought it. My sister told me to return it right away but I thought I would get used to it. What a fool I was! The clothes do not get clean & the noise is way too loud. I recently had to call to have it repaired because the machine sounded awful. The repairman told me the pulley was broken. He came today & replaced the pulley. After he left, I started a load of wash. The noise is even worse now! BTW, he said everyone has the same complaints with this washer. I have only owned it 3 years but I am ready to send it to the junk yard and get another machine. Stay away from this product it is a lemon!!

Totally  agreed we purchased our maytag top loader washer to find its garbage I 2013 nothing but a piece of garbage ....  it is  absolutely  frustrating especially  when it fills up but doesn't  spin nor drain the water the to boot the lock is not locking , I have tried unplugging it funny part the light would stay on.
Now, I have  a load of laundry in this meaningless piece of crap .
I don't  recommend this do called washer, as if money grows on trees especially when you own a home...electric and water isn't  cheap....  I can continue, but some things are better  left  in an appropriate  manner. There should be a class action suit against this giving  we all  didn't  sit down and ask the washer to malfunction and  add extra frustration... No one  should have to look up how to fix, repair   nor pay for a product  that  just causes hassle upon hassle.

Bought this washer in Jan,2016. Now had it 14 months with no problems. Bought the 3 year extended warrantee from Lowes at purchase. I don't like the growling noise the agitator makes and the cleaning time is excessive, almost an hour, and no end of cycle buzzer like the dryer has. The spin cycle is shaky, even though I reinforced the floor under the washer. I know my time is coming for a bad breakdown.

Yep, our old machine, a Kenmore, no longer agitated, went to buy a new machine.  I didn't want all the technology so bought a Maytag Centennial, right away did not like that it took an hour to wash a load.  Dealer tried to tell us several things we did wrong in installing it, funny it went right where the old one was and didn't change the height of hoses, slope of floor, etc.  Over a couple years time it has now developed a problem where when the load was done, there was water on the floor.  I figured it was on the super sized load, so have not been washing on that size, now last night it happened on the large load.  Also I find the sheets tangled around the agitator and a couple of times water still in the tub.  Looking for a new washer and this can just go to the junk man!

I purchased my Maytag Centennial Dec, 31, 2015.  Two weeks after it goes out of warranty it starts stopping in the middle of a cycle, never spinning unless I manually put it on Drain and spin.  This washer cost me a lot of money.   Repair people wanted $97 bucks just to come and diagnose.  I researcher, purchased the part and fixed it myself.  The washer is just a little over a year old.  I should not have to be working on it already.  Plus my clothes never smell really clean, even with all the added scent boosters.  Maytag need to make this right.

We have a Maytag Centennial, three years old, and have been very disappointed with it since day one. Clothes have always come out still dirty and it gives them an added bonus, stinky. Have always used the correct HE detergent and ran it's cleaning cycle several times with no improvement. This morning I accidentally broke the plastic lid lock and the machine refused to fire up as per it's "safety" design. Being a handy type guy with tools, I looked up the procedure for bypassing the lid lock switch, which is pretty simple, and got the machine going again. Now then I have the rare luxury of opening the lid to observe the actual "wash" cycle of this marvel of engineering. The mystery of the dirty clothes was shockingly revealed. With 1/3 of a load in the washer, it had added three inches of water. Most of the clothes remain dry above the water while that odd "ernt ernt ernt" noise goes on, suggesting there is SOME sort of movement going on inside that tub. I'm sorry to inform you Maytag fans, but there is no movement. You will do better to toss clothes in your bathtub and stir them with a stick ! Now SPIN cycle, that makes that fabulous airplane-in-your-house noise, actually spins the drum. Which nicely wrings out most of the water from your dirty smelly clothes. Pretty sad that "advancements in technology" have turned the once respected Maytag name into such a useless machine.

Add me to the list with most of the same complaints.  This is the most inefficient washing machine I have ever seen.  But there is a upside to this now, it just died tonight in the spin cycle.  It's outta here come morning.

This machine is a piece of junk! It's unfortunate that as consumers we have no recourse and clearly Maytag/Whirlpool will not stand by it's product. I have to replace the washer plate because the sensor does not calculate the proper amount of water. Thus, there is too much of a load on the washer plate because the clothes are not buoyant and the spline has stripped out the washer plate. It's amazing that we all of had the exact same issues with this machine! Maytg/Whirlpool should be ashamed for manufacturing such an inferior product. Perhaps if there is anything your company should do is to lobby and get rid of this BS Energy Star scam and make them like you used to. I will never buy a Whirlpool or Maytag again!

My Maytag purchased in 2013 has been having problems draining and spinning after the wash and spin cycle. I purchased the extended 3 year warranty so of course it expired last year. We unplugged it for an hour (advise from a repairman), it worked for 1 load of clothes and when I did the next load it stopped at the same cycle. Repairman charges 90.00 to show up, 150.00 for labor not including parts. I can buy a new washer for 300.00. Won't be another Maytag!

By far the worst appliance that I have ever purchased.  Flooded my house several times, gets stuck on wash for hours and the only way to get the clothes to spin is a manual effort on the machine.  Maytag and Lowes should be embarrassed by this piece of crap....

I have had this washer for a year and I hate it!!! Our clothes are wearing out as we wash them, fraying and small holes. We have 2 cats and 2 horses and there is always "cat hair, horse hair residue". With no agitator and no basket there is no where for the hair to go. I absolutely hate this washing machine and it makes me sick that I purchased it. Lowe's no longer sells this model. I can't wait to replace it, but I am out of a lot of money. So much for Maytag and their reputation.

After washing several loads of wash today, I removed the final load for drying. Then I notice that there is a water-sloshing sound coming from UNDER the tub. What's up with that?

This machine has given me problems. It started making a funny noise and now won't spin! I bought my washer and dryer as a pair almost 4 years ago. I will NEVER buy a Maytag again....4 kids and now I'm without a washer!

I have this washing machine. I have also noticed that it doesn't put enough water in to get my clothes clean. All of my clothes are beginning to smell and I can't afford to keep buying clothes. I need some advice on what to do. I can't afford to buy another washing machine.
