Under CA law is is harassment to call someone repeatedly and not say anything (silence to intimidate).

This company (319) 274-1902 called my home several times per week for 2 weeks.  When I or my wife answered the call there was no response - just silence.  Finally I had had enough and called back.  I asked immediately for them to stop calling me and to put me on their do not call list.  I was told they don't have a do not call list and then I was asked if "Valentina Johnson" lived here.  I told them no and tried to tell them how upset I was with them but they just said "all you have to say is its a wrong number."  Nonsense, they were clearly calling to get hold of this Valentina (my wife's name is Johnson and first name starts with V but not Valentina) and they were not going to say antything but keep calling until someone with the right accent answered the phone or someone called them back.  Silence being used to intimidate.  And they were targeting anyone with a name similar to this Valentina Johonson.

These guys need to be put out of business.

    To Annon:

If bill collectors actually took the time to do their homework, then you might find that you don't get yelled at as often.

The CBE Group keeps calling my WORK number and asking for someone that doesn't even work in my company!!! I have been telling them this for over a year. [***]!!!! CBE and all other debt collectors need to pull their heads out of their [***]. Intimidation gets you nowhere. Especially since calling my office will only get you into a world of trouble with my company's security department.

Lol, you're all pathetic claiming people don't remove your numbers. There's zero reason for a bill collector to call you if it's a wrong number because they're paid off commission, and whether you're lying or it's really a wrong number they don't give a [***] to talk to you again. You're all obviously debtors who know zero about the law I've read like 3 pages of comments and every one who thinks they know something is a complete moron. If it was as really easy as all you say to sue CBE or any other company in the business they would be closing doors. Yet they're thriving because of all you [***] people who can't fulfill your obligations and its you people who have made the economy crash the way it has because credit means nothing these days. And I'm a debt collector and I love talking to all you ignorant morons. Yes the best thing for you to do is cry and hang up because you can't pay that will solve everything. Keep hanging up eventually it will just go away. No there's not ANY sarcasm there... Right.. You're a bunch of losers, and yes most of you people who say you've said wrong number and they keep calling you're lying. Most likely you're too ignorant to say hey you have the wrong number good day. You say something [***] like stop calling and hang up. According to the fdcpa you have to send written cad not verbal but none of you would know that because you're all stupid. Ha it makes me laugh when I read all of your ignorant posts.

You, you dumb [***] are so wrong. I have told these people they have the wrong number. That this person is not at this number. But they kept on calling. So every time they called, I would call them back just to annoy them. I did it for 2 hours straight. They finally got their supervisor on the phone, who threatened to call the cops if I did not quit harassing her employee's. I told her to go ahead since I kept track of their every phone call. She then repeated my name, address, etc. Which wasn't even the same name of the person they were looking for. Which was what I had been telling them for the past 6 months. So you need to stick your opinion up your ass, where your head belongs!

        You're a trolling fool.

My household income (between my husband and myself) is well over 250k.  We have zero credit card debt and my mortgage and every other bill is paid on time.

I am called every day, multiple times a day for the past year by idiots like you who evidently suffer from reading comprehension issues.  I have explained that I had luck of getting this phone number from the phone company, that I am not the person who they are trying to reach, that I don't recognize the name they give.  Each time I get an apology and an assurance that I will never be called again.  Just now I was told, "oh.  It looks like you've been getting a bunch of calls because we have two debtors listed at this phone number."

I threatened to sue and was assured I don't have to and this would be taken care of.  I have heard that before.

I had a tragic death in the family and barely get to sleep as is and o be awoken every single AM to this nonsense has me in enough of a rage that I'm not looking into lawyers.

So god help the people you call if you're as ignorant as your post suggests.  That's most likely the attitude that will, fingers crossed, get you sued someday by someone whom you've wronged.

Your also [***] stupid because also according to fdcpa all those actions fall under bonafide error. Don't know what it means? Look it up you stupid [***]. You get one part of the fdcpa and you think you know it all. It protects the company as well as the consumer. Ignorant

We're not paid well but you're the one who can't pay your bill? I make over 90k a year working for a collection agency. And according to the standard of living index for my region it's actually quite far above average, and we know its more than you. If you had any money you'd pay the bill you owe you twit.

    CBE sucks
CBE Group is horrible. They call 3 times a day, every day (including Sundays). I tell them there is no one there by the name they are asking for and they say they will remove me from the call list. They still call every day and are often rude and have never let me speak to their supervisors. I am really considering changing my number because of the CBE idiots.

I *just* got my phone services activated (moved to a new city) and now I'm being bombarded by calls from CBE.  They call for someone I assume had my number before me, as I have told them time and time again.  Today they called back 4 times!  I've never even had directTV!?!  I think I'll pony up the cost to get my number on a DNC list, this is ridiculous >_<

I have been getting phone calls fro CBE early in the orningand late at nigt. Verizon is using them to collect debt. I am going to live to be 150 years old so they can wait and whistle. I do not owe verizon anything and I know they are the biggest rip-off company out there.

"person will get it (your #) removed"
CBE calls my cell occassionally looking for a particular person (I cant understand his name).  I have been told that my # would be removed from the system etc.  I also sent a certified letter for which I have the return rec't to CBE indicating that I am not the person they are seeking.

So I actually think the only way to get satisfaction is to curse out the person calling on behalf of CBE unless you have a better idea.
