I was duped into paying for a service that was not preformed on my computer.  I asked for three programs to be removed and Adobe Flash properly installed on my computer.  In fact I thought  I had or was in contact with the Adobe company.   I am in desperate need of  a refund of my money.   My  computer is not working properly and I am out $255.++.

Same experience here. I contacted GuruAid to help me solve a problem with Microsoft Office. A nice gentleman who stated that his name was 'John Parker' but had such a thick Indian accent I could barely understand him, stated that he would fix my computer in 30 minutes. I'm sure you heard the definition of stupid: when someone keeps doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result. Well, that pretty much sums up how I feel about John. But he sure was into selling me a membership for their services for each of my computer, $120 each. Well, after more than 3 hours on the phone with him, he just put me on hold and disappeared behind the 'cloud'. I called GuruAid back just to realize that the operator was just as inefficient as John was but was also trying to get me to subscribe to their service. I just hung up very frustrated and ended up going to the Apple store the next day. Time it took the Apple tech to fix my computer: 30 secs, cost $0. Warning to GuruAid: don't even think about charging my credit card!

    Hi,

I'm Gelian working for one of the biggest AV companies. Just got a call from one of our customers who actually tried to call us but ended up with this GURUAID thing. Cx was trying to renew her AV program before it expires when this guy said that she has multiple computer problems on her computer, her computer is infected with a virus. This guy asked our Cx to purchase there service for 3 years and her problem will be fixed. Since Cx thought that she was calling our company, she purchased the service. This guy fixed her computer though, removed our program and install Microsoft Security Essentials!!
What the ****..MS Security Essentials is a free AV program... She actually purchased the service and not the program.....Also, cx complained that what they have agreed  on the price that she's paying is not the price that was been credited on her account but it was way way way more expensive than the agreed price.....

From a concerned Tech. Support of Trend Micro

i know guruaid from last 5 years , the provide really good service for all type of PC problems . but there are some people who want to solve their problem for free so they solved their problem first and then keep writing [***] on this type of web sites . my advise  to all such type of writers please go and earn some money so you will not have to go and ask for refund after solving your problem

    Ive been duped
Called to resubscribe to McAfee, the number I was given ended up deceptively being Guruaid. They snowballed me, led me to believe they would install Mcafee, said they work for them, first had to remove the hundreds of errors. After 5 hours of them having remote access, they installed the free Mcafee. They drummed their stacato talkdowns until I could scream and insisted I take 5 minutes to say my computer was fine. After trying to tell them I would call after I used my computer a few days I finally had to hang up.

My computer is slower than ever, my addresses don't come up automatically any more, I am being shut down and also many pop-ups. Other issues too.

They have called me 8 times, ratlling on like fish market hawkers. Wish I had read this site first. They said they were located in Nebraska.

Do not use these people!  And the satisfied people replying to this blog........yeah, right!

I am ashamed to say that i once worked for this company. They are the biggest MOHTERF**CKERS on the planet but i left the company about 6 months ago after working for a week with these A$$HOLES when i figured out that these losers are just after money and nothing else. I believe you when you say that you had been duped, peggy and honestly i couldn't be more sorry for you. I would highly recommend you sue their A$$.

why don't you just burn the $159 or maybe donate it to some sort of charity and get some real help from real technicians near you who can service your computer in front of you. The first thing they pull off is by showing you the event viewer which DOES NOT have any relevant information about your problem , just some random errors generated by windows which do not affect your computing experience in any way. I know these s*ckers more than any one

Also for the record most of the so called "certified technicians" are not even qualified for working with MS or any other company. 90% of them are not even graduates. GOOD Luck if you invest in these losers

My mother got scammed by these guys. She was trying to figure out which Microsoft Outlook App to buy and called them, because Apple is closed on the weekend. They then told her to go on her computer and put a password in to make them able to control it. She did, they then showed her how many virus' there were supposedly on her computer. They asked for her credit card, but she got a bad feeling and hung up. She then shut down the computer, cut the connection and changed her password.

Beware these guys are just a scam.

I contacted Guruaid to fix a problem I had in Accessing Sky.com, when my password was never remembered, after stopping remembering it a couple of months ago. They have spent 2 days on it, and I have been at my computer for 18 hours with them, and this morning I find that now I cannot access Sky, or Yahoo, hotmail, and E-bay. I paid to have the problem fixed and regret ever having heard of Guru Aid., and they have the cheek to comment"Experience Computing Nirvana"

    d) Fourth, as you can see from these comments on facbeook, while we are not perfect, most of our customers are extremely happy with our service.

    e) Fifth, we are in the technical services business. Some of the issues we run into can be extremely complex and can sometimes take more than a few hours to fix. While 98 % of the time we successfully resolve the customers problem, on occasions we fall short of the standards we have set for our self.

    f) Sixth, to protect out customers from such situations we have a 30-day money back guarantee. If for some reason you feel that GuruAid service is not up to the mark, we refund the service fees. All such inquiries are handled within 48-hours, there is no run-around.

We have a Customer Relationship Management system that has data on all customer interaction. We also include an order-id with the payment receipt. It is not possible though for us to investigate such situations without more specific information (e.g. order id; phone number;).

I was 'almost' duped by guruaid---- but thankfully declined their 'services'.

I'm trying to find the financial (or otherwise) connection between guruaid and Trend Micro since TM's new installation on my computer slowed connectivity down to a crawl. When the agent at TM couldn't fix the problem I asked to be connected to someone higher on the food chain and got guruaid!

I recognize a scam when I smell it.

So from the sound of it- Guruaid has the same general fix for everyone's computer: take control, download hours worth of monitoring software, make you pay money. Then when your subscription with them times out, it unleashes viruses, malware, spyware, and rapeware galore. im sure they found a legal loophole to go about conducting business this way but the fact of the matter is that MOST forms of virus protection are scams just like this one. You pay money to put the 'protection' software on your computer and when it comes time to renew your subscription, all he!! breaks loose. Makes me glad I use linux and have a nice degree of control of what goes in and out of my computer.
