I purchased a sofa and chair from a furniture store about 18 months ago. I chose the England brand furniture because I was told about their exceptional quality. Unfortunately, the fabric and cushions are wearing pre-maturely. The fabric is tearing and the cushions are loosing their shape. England refuses to acknowledge the tearing because the 1 year warranty has expired. They are looking into the cushion problem. I never had this problem with any other brand of living room furniture I purchased over the last 35 years.

My husband bought an England sofa, chair and  love seat in 2002.  Within 3 years the cushions on the couch were shot!!  We lived with it for 7 years because someone told us that it costs about $60 per cushion to repair.  I finally decided to give in and called Colders (where we bought them) on Oct. 6th to get them repaired.  They told me there was a ten year warranty on the cushions but since it expired Aug. 21st they wouldn't do anything about it.  They told me to call the manufacturer or call a foam distributor to have them fix them.  I called England today, Bob Woods (x1343), he told me they will not help me they don't deal with consumers only distributors and that I needed to call Colders.  So now that I want the cushions fixed Englad won't help me fix them, they won't honor a warranty for their poorly made furniture and they also won't answer any questions.  Colder's won't stand by the product they sold and won't even help me fix them either.  Any foam distributor suggestions?  I definitely will not buy England products again and will not be shopping at Colder's ever!!

UPDATE as promised: My Sofa/loveseat are now over 2 years old. Not one problem. They still look great. They also withstood a move out of state and 7 weeks in storage during that move.

Thanks for your update! I feel better. They just delivered my sectional today and I love it! It's beautiful. The cushions seem so firm I can't imagine that they would go flat like some complaints. I guess time will tell but I do feel better to hear that you are still happy with your furniture.

England Furniture custom feature on website has errors

I shopped for furniture at a local furniture store that carries England Furniture.  I liked what I saw so I went home and researched the England company website and utilized the customize feature to see how the furniture would look in the custom fabric I liked.  I choose a brown woven fabric with a vertical stripe.  I loved what I saw and went right back to the store and purchased a sofa and love seat totaling over $1500.00.

The furniture arrived about 3 weeks later and the furniture was manufactured with the stripes running horizontally not vertically as shown on the website.   I was very upset at this manufacturing error.  With horizontal stripes, some of the edges of the cushions look faded.  The stripes also do not line up so the furniture looks to be of an inferior quality and poor workmanship.

I called the store and tried to work with their customer service department.  They agree that there is a problem and offered me a small refund that I found too insignificant to offset the problems with the furniture.  I also called England Furniture and spoke to a Mr. Bill Woods.  Mr. Woods was emphatic that there was nothing wrong with how my furniture was made and that the website was wrong.  He said he was not going to do anything to help me but was only going to change the website.

I am so upset at how England is handling this problem.  I made many labor intensive and expensive decorating decisions based on the England furniture.  It is not easy to just return the defective furniture for a refund because I would have to redo the entire room which is time consuming, expensive, and frustrating.

I wish England would stand behind their claims to be a company of high quality and customer satisfaction.  I purchased furniture based on what was displayed on the website.  England admitted that the website was wrong but refuses to accept responsibility for their error.

My subsequent calls and letters to England Furniture have not been returned or answered.  They never even apologized for their mistake.

Mr. Terry England  called me this morning and said that they would remake the furniture as shown on the web site.  I am very pleased that England Furniture is taking action in correcting the problem.

The new furniture just arrived and it is perfect!   I very much appreciate the extraordinary effort that England put forth to make this furniture as displayed on the web site.  I am very happy and will certainly look to England again when we buy new furniture in the future.

I purchased an England Couch and Love Seat 2 years ago.  Since then I replaced all the cushions that lost their shape.  Before I was able to do so, I had a big hassle with the furniture store I bought it from and had to contact England myself to get somewhere.  Keep in mind their are only 2 adults sitting on this furniture. After finally getting them replaced, the new cushions had lost their shape within the first month.  I read that I have a 10 year warranty on the cushions and want them replaced again but not sure I want to deal with the hassle of the furniture store.  I cannot afford to buy new furniture and I will never buy England or Lazy Boy Anything!

I have been looking for a new couch and love seat.  I was going to buy a England  brand  today, but I think not.  People always say buy USA made, but when they build pieces of crap why bother.  Thank God for Complaint sites......

Thank goodness I found this site. I was close to buying an England living room set but based on all the comments I will look elsewhere. Who needs the problems when spending this much money. Too bad Lazyboy. I won't be buying your products either.

I read most of the reviews here and I did go ahead and get the England because I can't afford the Ethan Allen furnture,  and that is the only furniture that I have seen that eveyoine is not complaining about,  I got it since they were able to say I would get the furniture in 3 weeks and I did not see on here that anyone complained about that one but Lasy Boy which is where I went first did not have this promise but and all the reviews were bad on Lasy Boy so I am giving this a shot, and I took out the extra warranty where if anything happens with the cushions I will get new.  it I guess after reading so many reviews was the best way to go and I did all the tests on the furniure that I read on the comp. to do,

but I do have to say one thing the store I went to also had Lasy boy and they were easier to work with than the lasy boy furniture,  Lasy boy will not bend for anything, and this store came down on price lower and lower.

so I felt good about that,  they did not give it away but I had more choices in fabric and I am just hopping for the best.  plus I did not pay it off so in case I am stuck I will be able to save some of my money.

I just picked up my round storage ottoman and do not like the under side. There must be hundreds of staples holding down the fabric.  This is poor quality workmanship. This was an expensive ottoman. I will let the store know (Smith Village of Jacobus).

I was shopping for new furniture today. I am in need of a couch and chair and half and ottoman.  As I talked to sale person I was satisfied with what she told me.  I could pick out fabric, ect. but as I read all these complaints I am going to keep shopping.  I was not told it was owned by lazy boy.  I purchased a sofa and recliner 4 years ago and it was a lazyboy and it looks terrible and not comfortable.  The arms of couch had to be restuffed and repaired after 4 months.  I said I would never buy lazy boy again,  so I guess I will keep looking.

Well, I wish that I had looked at this complaint forum before I purchased my sectional from England.
First of all, I wish to say that the proprietor of the furniture store did his best to please me and replaced the foam in the cushions. I could see after 2 weeks that the cushions were breaking down.
However, the replacement was to no avail as the cushions are just terrible.
Previously, I had a sofa and love-seat, England Premium, and after 7 years there was no visible sign of wear.
I also have a sectional in the den of the same age that is just fine.
In our vacation home, we have an England sectional purchased in 2005 and the wear is minimal.
    What happened?
I know the ownership has changed but is it so hard to maintain quality?
    Live and learn.

I'm considering the Oakland style sofa and loveseat in a leather and because of the President's Day sale I need to make a quick decision.  The items I'm considering are going to be special order because of the leather color I've chosen.  The sofa is reclining with the power option and the loveseat is just reclining; but both pieces still come to $3500.  The guy that I was working with indicated that the power option only adds about $100 to the overall cost so even without that option I'm still looking at $3400.  (apparently the leather I chose (Salvador Rosetta) is adding about $1000 to the total.  With a different leather selection the total would be about $2500.)   Most of the complaints on here are from 2008 and 2009 with a few from 2011 and 2012.  Has the quality improved any? Does anyone have any experience with this style, leather, reclining or power option?  I need some fast insight so any help would be appreciated.

We currently have had our leather sofa and loveseat picked up and returned to the England factory for repair.  Just purchased it this fall.  Would never purchase from them again.  The permanently attached cushions do not line up.  The backs are uneven.  The power leg rest is torqued.  The arms are on unevenly. This is how it was delivered.  The delivery guys were gone before we could do a thorough inspection.   We sent 17 pictures showing the  areas of dissatisfaction along  to the manufacturer when our local store picked up the furniture.  The local repair man told us that in his 20 years of furniture repair he has never seen anything put together so poorly.  When I actually got someone at England to talk with me, he hadn't even taken the time to investigate our complaints.  He was rather arrogant with us.  Told us it would be repaired and returned.  I am not even going to let my local store deliver it back to me until I go to their warehouse first and inspect it.  I too bought because it was a well known American company.   We also paid about $3500 for the 2 pieces.  My furniture looked like someone on a drunken stupor put it together.  Not sure what will happen next.  I bought a couch and love seat from the old Montgomery Wards 16 years ago that is  in better condition now than my new England furniture.
