I received a call by a man calling himself Jack Zachwalker. He said if I had a valid credit card w/ at least a dollar on it he could guarantee me a $200 gas card.  I would have to pay a fee of $3.90 to get the gas card. He called repeatedly.  Now the calls have stopped.

I just went through the same thing.  I gave my information over the phone but something just did not sit right with me.  I called the bank before John Miller from American Auto Benefits could call me back and verify the information I canceled the card.  When they called me back the man said that they already took the money from my card which was a lie. I guess they were trying to get me to say yes to a bunch of questions.  The man on the phone kept arguing with me so I hung up on him.  He called back but I did not answer.  They always say DON'T give your information out over the phone PLEASE listen to that rule!!  I usually don't and after today I wont again.!!  Remember it is a SCAM nobody is giving anything away for free!!!!

Why don't you call their legal departments and let them know these scammers are violating their trademarks?

And why would they need your credit card number if they were "waiving" the fee, on the "free gas card"?

    Liars.

Even if they do have a website, it might be created solely for the purpose of appearing legitimate.

Take a look at their website:
    http://www.americanautobenefits.com/

Lots of well-known well-respected logos.  But what, exactly, is the relationship between this company and ANY of the companies whose logos they show, and what "benefit" do you get from paying them for a "membership"?

These people called repeatedly today (One named John Reed) saying the $200 gas card was free and we only had to pay shipping and would receive no additional charges and my hubby gave them our cc number. They would not stop calling after we said that we were not interested and to remove us from their system and all of our info. We had also told them we did not have the money to pay the shipping costs and they said had checked our balance in our checking account and they knew we had enough money. The guy kept saying that my husband needed to complete the verification so they could delete our info. We said heck no!!! We asked to speak with a supervisor and he said I AM THE SUPERVISOR!!! But he refused to leave us alone and take us off their calling list and remove our information. We just finished changing all our credit  card info. Both who called were india soundin folks.

they called me today.  with so many people saying it was a scam, but no one saying anything else.  Some people started posing in june, but no follow-up.  I tried for 30 minutes to get any information - phone number, location, anything - from them.  Nothing...  To veer and vishal though, Consider that if you exclude N. America, S. America, Most of Africa, Australia, and Europe...  almost 50% of the people who live in Asia are in India.  Half are in China - it is difficult to confuse those accents.  So, there is a 75-80 percent chance that they are right, and the callers are from India.  Most of us idiots lump pakistan and the rest of the area with India, so the odds are pretty good the person was from India.

"the $200 gas card was free and we only had to pay shipping and would receive no additional charges"

    Lies.

" they said had checked our balance in our checking account and they knew we had enough money"

    More lies.

"The guy kept saying that my husband needed to complete the verification so they could delete our info"

Lies to get you to say something they can claim was an "authorization" to charge your card.

"We asked to speak with a supervisor"

It wouldn't have mattered.  The "supervisor" would have been as crooked as the rest, just more polished.

"We just finished changing all our credit  card info"

    Good.  Block the card number.

You "fix" it by notifying your bank that your card information is in the hands of overseas scammers.  Dispute any charges you find as "fraudulent", due to their use of deceptive disclosures.

Overseas call centers are not distributed randomly across the world based on population.

They are located mainly in certain countries with the combination of low wages, acceptable accent, adequate education and similar enough culture capable of supporting them, and depending on what function they are serving.  At this point, that is mainly India, but also Pakistan and the Philipines, since all 3 have many speakers of English.

More technically capable call centers require higher education levels.  If the intent is to present more of an "American" appearance but still at lower than U.S. costs, then Canadian call centers have an advantage.

All of the above countries also show some reports of call centers apparently engaged in scams of one sort or another.  Some shady telemarketing operations have employed overseas sites for the main deceptive telemarketing cold-calling (Philipines, for example), with Canadian centers to handle the "account retention".

LOL.  These people are a joke.  I hung up on GLEN (or so he says) and they called me back!  Then after 15 minutes of telling them to please send me the free gift card for FREE without me paying the fee of whatever, they were so upset that I was wasting their time and were pleading for me to hang up the phone.  They would not hang up themselves.  I kept reminding them that I already hung up the phone once. I told them to NEVER call again.  Hope they get that im not interested in my money being stolen.

They have been calling me as well, 1-2 times a day. i have reported them to Federal Fraud companies...

People, have some common sense and NEVER give out your credit card information to someone you do not know and aren't doing business with. If they wanted to send you a gift card, they would do it without your credit card number. Keep posting about this, keep reporting them!!

These people called me and began to offer a $300 card for gas that I could use anywhere. I said fine, but I am NOT going to give them any credit card numbers.

First I talked with one guy then another female came on, they give you a song and dance about how they only need the numbers off the FRONT of your credit card and that those are NOT your account numbers, suuure. So I started looking for old cards that where not valid anymore and wasted there time as they try to charge $1.95 each time you give them a card number.

DO NOT give them any valid credit card numbers. As others have posted they will just begin charging you for anything they want.

Oh and IF you do want long distance service, you can get it from a legitimate company for a lot less than $60/month.

This one is a SCAM all the way.

Fraudulent telemarketing warning from the Wilmington, MA Police Department, (978)-658-3331.  They were getting a lot of complaints because one of the numbers used for fraudulent telemarketing had a Wilmington area code.

    "Telemarketing Scam

The Wilmington Police have investigated continuous complaints regarding a telemarketing company using the number 978-570-2232.  This number is not a Wilmington, Massachusetts phone number even though it has a Wilmington exchange.  Even when searched utilizing any number of internet databases available, it appears to be an actual Wilmington number.

Complaints have come in from across the country to our police department regarding this number.  Our investigators have worked with the Attorney General's Office and have issued subpoenas and have gathered only some basic information due to the less than honest business practices being conducted. Due to the international scope and actual physical location where the number was sold to and being operated, we have no jurisdiction.

978-570-2232 is one of many numbers purchased by Telephone Management Caller ID in Portland, Oregon.  The company actually using the phone number is Silgate Solutions in Mumbai, India.  Silgate is the telemarketing company.

This seems to be a credit card scam since they are asking for only $2 or $3 to pay by credit card to give you $300.  They are targetting elderly people. We got a call. I have asked them to put us on Do-NOT-Call List.  Still, we got more calls. How can they be stopped.

According to the Wilmington MA Police Departmenr, a similar number was traced to a telemarketer, Silgate Solutions, located in Mumbai, India.  They were getting complaints of scam calls.

Looks like in this case fraudulent calls are confirmed to be coming from India.
