TERRIBLE! Bought the washer in December of 2010. We began finding holes in clothes in March of 2011. We found that we had a small crack in our dryer. After trying to fix it ourself, the crack came back. So, we replaced the dryer. After we replaced the dryer, we began to find MORE holes in clothes. It was NOT the dryer causing the holes, but our DUET Whirlpool washer. We had several drain error instnances as well. We have had the service repair man out several times for the drain error problem. Ranging from a Mardi Gras bead in the drain pump, to several baby socks to a large adult tube sock. I'd say it's been at least 7 times. We had finally had enough of our clothes, which I would estimate to be at LEAST $500 worth of clothing, the service repair man said he had never seen anything like it. This was in November of 2011. They said they would replace the tub and drum system but it would take several weeks to get the part in, which took us past our warrantee. After numerous complaints, Whirlpool offered the best they could do was extend our warrantee 6 additional months. The first drum was broken upon delivery, so another would have to be ordered. There goes another week. Finally it came in. We were all but assured the problem would be fixed. TWO days later, same drain error code! 3 more socks caught in the drain pump! Took the socks out myself after watching them do it so I didn't have to call them out again and pay the fee. Next day...MORE HOLES in clothes! Call and they say they can't get a service guy out for at least a week! This is all during the Christmas and New Year's holidays! January 9th the service repair man comes and says, yep, it's the same problem. We need to replace the tub and drum AGAIN! The part would be guaranteed to be in by Friday, January 13th! Guess what? Today I get a call...the parts are on BACKORDER and it won't be until January 24th until they can become available!! Seriously...SERIOUSLY??!! I have a family of 6...me, my wife, a 8 year old girl, a 7 year old girl, and 5 year old boy and an 18 month old girl. The piles upon piles of laundry are limitless waiting for empty promises. In the meantime, we have had to wash essential clothes (school clothes, socks, underwear, etc.) at laundromats, and friends and other family members' houses. Whilpool doesn't give a care about ANY of our problems. I come from a HUGE family, as does my wife. Together, we probably have 100 family members. I will crusade against Whirlpool for any and ALL appliances if this matter is NOT fixed and their customer service is not better!

I purchased our machine in September and went in to tell them at Lowes that it was ripping our clothing.  Repair man came out on December 22 and ordered a new drum and bearing.  Replaced them on January 13th and yesterday... same thing.  Ripped again.  When I opened the door I actually saw the shirt stuck between the drum and the seal.  Our repair guy didn't want to do the job again because now they are saying that he has to take the whole thing apart again (3hours) and replace the front portion of the drum and the door gasket.  Apparently this is a problem that they are aware of.
Whirlpool customer service told me that they were responsible for fixing the machine.  The cost of the first repair was more then the price I paid for the machine.

I bought a whirlpool front loader 2 yrs ago and it's been ripping our clothing on every load.
The problem started 8 months ago and we thought it was normal from the 1st month and thereafter we saw at least 3 pieces of clothing with holes on each load. What can I do to get some help?
Have you guys found any resolutions?

Try leveling the unit to the back slightly so the Clothes are tossed to the rear of the machine more. Or if you have a slanted door glass see if Whirpool offers a straight one for your model. This was a problem the units started to have after wear and tear loosened the components up.

My husband replaced the slanted door glass after ordering a replacement straight one.  It was fine for a couple of weeks and then it started ripping clothes again.  I will never buy another front loader again and am now trying to figure out how to redesign my laundry room counter so that I can get a top loading one again.

Having recently moving into a house with the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer, we soon started having damaged clothes. In 3 months, we lost 3 items. We would find them after the dryer load, thinking it was coming from the dryer. We checked that machine out and could find nothing.
Then one day, I opened the washer and there it was, the shirt was stuck behind the rubber surrounding the door. The culprit. There is enough room for a piece of clothing to get stuck and the constant twirling and spinning would wind them tight and soon they would tear.

We just bought a second hand set. Thought we were getting a great deal @ $200. I guess we were the fools. We needed the washer, not the dryer.
