TERRIBLE! Bought the washer in December of 2010. We began finding holes in clothes in March of 2011. We found that we had a small crack in our dryer. After trying to fix it ourself, the crack came back. So, we replaced the dryer. After we replaced the dryer, we began to find MORE holes in clothes. It was NOT the dryer causing the holes, but our DUET Whirlpool washer. We had several drain error instnances as well. We have had the service repair man out several times for the drain error problem. Ranging from a Mardi Gras bead in the drain pump, to several baby socks to a large adult tube sock. I'd say it's been at least 7 times. We had finally had enough of our clothes, which I would estimate to be at LEAST $500 worth of clothing, the service repair man said he had never seen anything like it. This was in November of 2011. They said they would replace the tub and drum system but it would take several weeks to get the part in, which took us past our warrantee. After numerous complaints, Whirlpool offered the best they could do was extend our warrantee 6 additional months. The first drum was broken upon delivery, so another would have to be ordered. There goes another week. Finally it came in. We were all but assured the problem would be fixed. TWO days later, same drain error code! 3 more socks caught in the drain pump! Took the socks out myself after watching them do it so I didn't have to call them out again and pay the fee. Next day...MORE HOLES in clothes! Call and they say they can't get a service guy out for at least a week! This is all during the Christmas and New Year's holidays! January 9th the service repair man comes and says, yep, it's the same problem. We need to replace the tub and drum AGAIN! The part would be guaranteed to be in by Friday, January 13th! Guess what? Today I get a call...the parts are on BACKORDER and it won't be until January 24th until they can become available!! Seriously...SERIOUSLY??!! I have a family of 6...me, my wife, a 8 year old girl, a 7 year old girl, and 5 year old boy and an 18 month old girl. The piles upon piles of laundry are limitless waiting for empty promises. In the meantime, we have had to wash essential clothes (school clothes, socks, underwear, etc.) at laundromats, and friends and other family members' houses. Whilpool doesn't give a care about ANY of our problems. I come from a HUGE family, as does my wife. Together, we probably have 100 family members. I will crusade against Whirlpool for any and ALL appliances if this matter is NOT fixed and their customer service is not better!

    Hi, It took some digging here and elsewhere, but the solution to this problem is to replace: 1. The bellows for your particular washer (mine was part #w10290499 - look yours up with your model #) and 2. the re-designed inner door  glass - part number #W10388315  or #8540428 which are identical and the same for all washers -  which prevents clothes from sliding into the gap between bellow and tub. I bought both on Amazon for about $150 and you can even buy the glass used. There are excellent videos on-line (google it) and installation of both glass and bellows is pretty easy if you can use a screwdriver.

      I don't know if this help know.. But a revised inner door window, which pushed clothes away from the bellow and a new bellow should fix the problem. Whirlpool doesn't tell people this and its hard to find on www. I think they may pay for parts but not labor.

    Whirlpool refuses to recall or take responsibility.  Therefore me and 20 family members will never buy any whirlpool for next 59 years. The shredding of clothes on a $2,000 machine is ridiculous.  I hope this company fails.

    Whirlpool = NOT your Friend
    Same issues here as everyone else posted above.  Maybe we can all get a group discount together for therapy sessions because this washer is driving us all crazy.  I'll start... "Hi, my name is XXXXX and I bought a Whirlpool washer in 2010 and here is my story"...

    Our Whirlpool set is about 5 years old.  Bought washer and dryer at the same time.  Dryer is ok but washer shreds clothes, sometimes badly, like bullet size holes and other times the holes are pin sized but numerous.  It also wraps the clothes so tight that it's like doing a jigsaw puzzle to unwind.  Shreding started about 6 months ago in earnest.  Nothing seems to help.  We are also constantly getting the "LF" low flow error at the beginning of wash cycles.  LF error happens 100% of the time.  I cleaned out the coin tray 2-3 times but doesn't help with LF problem.

    Dear wife and I have decided that life is too short.  Going back to a regular top load washer.  Less fancy stuff to break.  We only used 10-20% of the Duet options anyway.  I feel better already.  Peace and out!!!

    To fix 1. replace inner door glass,  for whirlpool duet and some others the part number is w1038815 or 8540428 2. Replace door bellows look up the part number for your particular washer. The revised inner door glass pushes clothes away from bellow. Use only OEM bellows. Look on YouTube for how to replace both, its not to hard to d.i.y.

    I've been having the same problem with my machines. I purchased the pair back in September of 2010, and have lost so many articles of clothing over the past few years. We refer to them as "casualties" now-a-days. It's really frustrating. I'd like to be able to replace whatever the faulty parts are myself...I don't want to have to buy new washer and dryer. It's such an annoying situation, thinking that I'd be in good hands with Whirlpool. I don't have money to just throw around and buy new machines. Whirlpool, please contact me and let me know what you can do for me. I can be reached at boricuammc@yahoo.com.

    Same problem. I consistently get holes in my shirts, especially t-shirts. How long have washing machines been around? Are you telling me this is state of the art in 2016?

    Honestly, this washer is destroying our daughters clothes.  I will fix it once, but if it messes up again, I scrap it and sell the good parts on e-bay

    Same here... Purchased duet set in Dec 2014 and every pair of jeans we own now has a hole about 5 inches up on each leg... Every pair. Not to mention other shirts and sheets.  Took about 4 months to notice the pattern. We had a duet set that lasted 8 years before and did not experience the issue.  Looks like a recent design flaw. In speaking with service guy, he said they get lots of these issues and even with new door parts can't always be fixed. They do not have the issue with other company's designs as the door is flush with the unit and do not have the large interior bellow which Allows clothes to get stuck.   Guess we'll be replacing ours soon.

    Controll panel, pump & hose,door seal& plastic door ring or door support failures in the  3 loads of laundry . A lemon for sure! Customer support a joke! Whirlpool is hard on the pocket book. Should have never replaced older trouble free machin.

    Same issue..... Our model wfw9250ww01 was eating clothes.   Original door glass has been discontinued and new door glass part# seems to be WPW10387885.   Not including any other parts that may need to be replaced to have it fit properly.  Thinking of just going to good ol top load cheapy...

    I wish I would've researched this washer prior to my purchase! The problems are unreal and am not interested in replacing washer. Whirlpool need to be held accountable for all errors listed in this feed. Annoyed having ruined clothing that have been recently purchased.

    I have a top loading whirlpool washer since 2013. It has put holes in my tee shirts and sheets. It has made my new towels very thin and shredded my older towels and washcloths. Whirlpool customer service will not help. Previously I had a whirlpool for 20 years and it was fine. I hear the company was sold. I want to throw this one out and get a different brand; one that fills all the way with water. I think most of the problem is too little water, so the clothes rub against each other and too high a spin.

    I have the same problem with my whirlpool washer  it rips cloths on the regular basis thought it was the drum but I went through it with a fine tooth comb and I couldn't find any sharp edges that were prevalent but I'm sure I probably missed it I called the company and they basically said it isn't our issue it's only two years old I'll never buy a y of there products ever again  they should come good with any issue they are plagued with this is one of thousands of complaints with this issue
