TERRIBLE! Bought the washer in December of 2010. We began finding holes in clothes in March of 2011. We found that we had a small crack in our dryer. After trying to fix it ourself, the crack came back. So, we replaced the dryer. After we replaced the dryer, we began to find MORE holes in clothes. It was NOT the dryer causing the holes, but our DUET Whirlpool washer. We had several drain error instnances as well. We have had the service repair man out several times for the drain error problem. Ranging from a Mardi Gras bead in the drain pump, to several baby socks to a large adult tube sock. I'd say it's been at least 7 times. We had finally had enough of our clothes, which I would estimate to be at LEAST $500 worth of clothing, the service repair man said he had never seen anything like it. This was in November of 2011. They said they would replace the tub and drum system but it would take several weeks to get the part in, which took us past our warrantee. After numerous complaints, Whirlpool offered the best they could do was extend our warrantee 6 additional months. The first drum was broken upon delivery, so another would have to be ordered. There goes another week. Finally it came in. We were all but assured the problem would be fixed. TWO days later, same drain error code! 3 more socks caught in the drain pump! Took the socks out myself after watching them do it so I didn't have to call them out again and pay the fee. Next day...MORE HOLES in clothes! Call and they say they can't get a service guy out for at least a week! This is all during the Christmas and New Year's holidays! January 9th the service repair man comes and says, yep, it's the same problem. We need to replace the tub and drum AGAIN! The part would be guaranteed to be in by Friday, January 13th! Guess what? Today I get a call...the parts are on BACKORDER and it won't be until January 24th until they can become available!! Seriously...SERIOUSLY??!! I have a family of 6...me, my wife, a 8 year old girl, a 7 year old girl, and 5 year old boy and an 18 month old girl. The piles upon piles of laundry are limitless waiting for empty promises. In the meantime, we have had to wash essential clothes (school clothes, socks, underwear, etc.) at laundromats, and friends and other family members' houses. Whilpool doesn't give a care about ANY of our problems. I come from a HUGE family, as does my wife. Together, we probably have 100 family members. I will crusade against Whirlpool for any and ALL appliances if this matter is NOT fixed and their customer service is not better!

Ok Guys....Please add me to the group....Within the past 5 months, I too have experienced my T-shirts mostly, to have small holes, med & larger..
I just checked the drum and what I have found is.....The drum is not the same level going around.  I checked with a nylon stocking as I was told to
do.  I ran my hand all around the bottom of drum and this is what I found.  Some sides my finger went around normally, but found a little difference on the other side...Finger would not go into the drum part as no problem with most of it...Just wondered if perhaps this might be my problem and perhaps could be yours.  I purchased this washer about 4 or 5 years ago..It has worked just fine up until now...I hate the thoughts of having to go out and try my luck with another...From what I have been reading, this problem is coming up in other washers...

I have a whirlpool duet washer and dryer and am having the same problem - little holes in all of my shirts.  Seriously, I have lost over $1500 in clothes.  At first, I thought it was my granite, so I replaced our granite!  The holes continued.  Finally, I googled ‘little holes in shirt after washing’ and learned that others with Whirlpool Duets have the same problem.  I bought laundry bags thinking that would help.  A brand new $89 shirt, worn once, just emerged from the laundry bag with little holes in the front.  I am so frustrated. I called Whirlpool. Unbelievably, I was told that they never heard of this! (I suggested they google it.). I was basically told that they would set up a service call AT MY EXPENSE,  but that was all that they will do.  I will never buy another whirlpool product and will do my best to see that no one else that I know does either.

Whirlpool Duet clothes destroyed - problem solved!!!   After hundreds of dollars in lost clothing, I replaced the front bellows gasket for the second time. This time I used a genuine Whirlpool part. The problem was due to the gasket leaving too much space between the rotating drum and the gasket. Clothes could fit into the crack and corkscrew into it until they tore. The new gasket was about $80, but I have now run about a dozen loads with no damage!  It used to tear something every load!

One more thing... you can do the gasket replacement yourself. Plenty of good videos on Youtube!  Need: screwdriver, pliers, small wrench or nut driver, and one driver that is a Torx head on it.  Takes about 30 minutes.

I bought both washer and dryer 2014 and the washer has torn so many pieces of clothing.  It seems like from all of the complaints I have read and no one will step up and fix the problem.  This shows that the company was only interested in selling and not standing behind their product.  Customers are left feeling helpless b/c we've spent hard earned money thinking we have bought a quality product and it's not.

Add our Whirlpool Model WFW9151YW00, serial HL21981361 to the list of washers damaging clothes. Our washer and dryer were purchased in 2012, but not installed until our house was finished in 2013. We have suspected that the washer has been eating clothes on and off for 8 years. We will go for months without damage, and then we will have several washes in a row when something gets damaged. Service technician is coming (again) next week. If it cannot be fixed at a reasonable cost, we are replacing it with a low cost TOP loading machine. This is the third front loading machine we've owned in 20 years, and frankly I don't care anymore if they are more efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional top loaders. Every single front loader we've had has had problems with mold, doors frozen closed, door leaks, front bellows tearing, faulty balance sensors related to faulty wiring or connectors, and pumps damaged by small items (coins, socks etc) getting out of the drum. The bottom line: consumer grade front loading machines are too expensive and not reliable.
