LA Fitness NAMES/EMAILS/NUMBERS to cancel membership!!!

LA Fitness tells you the "ONLY" way you can cancel your membership is for you to physically go into the gym and they will print off cancellation forms, which you will have to mail out yourself.  I sent my cancellations forms almost 2 weeks prior to having them take out the monthly gym fees. I felt this gave them enough time to cancel at its entirety BUT that didn't happen. I was so aggravated with the run arounds. I finally was able to get names/emails/numbers of individuals at LA Fitness headquarters who can make sure your membership is cancelled.  I do have to say "Orlando Gonzalez" was extremely professional and very cordial. He immediately reassured my memberships would be cancelled AND he would make sure I was reimbursed for the monthly fee they had just taken out.  Here is the information:   Orlando Gonzalez  (949) 255-7277  orlandog@lafitness.com  and Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330  aylinm@lafitness.com

MINORITIES - BEWARE! I just joined Lafitness and transferred to Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, NJ location.  My guest member & I today signed in, was allowed into gym and 5 or 10 minutes later I approached desk clerk asking for a basketball (Eli said he was Operations Manager - his attitude sucked & obvious has no management training whatsoever).  I was told to get promisory note signed that I would not steal the basketball,  no forms could be found so 5 minutes later he approached me to rescind my membership telling me I was not getting a ball and then had the Wayne police come into the gym to escort me from the premises.  REALLY?  WAS THIS BECAUSE I'M AN AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE? Luckily, friends present witnessed everything.  I had no altercations, no comments,  nothing to say to this "egotistical clerk" that would cause him to rescind membership & the nerve to have me escorted by Police from the premises.  The GM on site also had a rude, obnoxious attitude when I asked for their names.  3 times he refused to provide their names.  After I contacted the CEO & Regional VP offices, the GM in Wayne, NJ called to advise my membership money would be reimbursed in full (I await to see this refund).  Only this time his tone of voice & high pedestal was lost (after he alleged spoke to the Regional VP), yet the pompous attitude was present while I was on the premises.   Was I escorted off the premises because I was an African American male or was the bug up the clerk's *** too big to fit?

This post is regarding how to cancel a *PERSONL TRAINING MEMBERSHIP* if *still within 3 business days of signing agreement.

    Read your contracts carefully!!

    1. Call LA Fitness Membership Services at 949.255.7200
    2. Request cancellation of personal training membership - be sure to let them know if you wish to cancel ONLY personal training, and retain your fitness membership! The customer service rep, Brian, told me I was in the terms of my agreement and was not able to cancel but I made sure he understood I only wanted to cancel my personal training membership that I signed just three business days ago. He verified that I was correct and still able to cancel and apologized for the misunderstanding.
    3. The customer service rep will most likely have your email on file and confirm your email address with you; A confirmation email regarding request to cancel your personal training agreement will be sent to you.

Honestly, it was much easier than some of the nightmares I have heard here on this thread. It might have to do with the fact that I realized early on that I didn't need the personal training sessions and was still within 3 business days to receive full refund.

Thank you so much Pj for posting this message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too was a victim with signing up with a 52 session Personal Training Package. The sales reps there wer very orchestrated and I admit I was a FOOL, but I knew it wasn't rite! Monday signed up for training sessions had a session today Tuesday and was just not able due to a motor vehicle accident 3 yrs ago. Just not ready for training yet . So I took advantage of the 3 day period. And Presto , spoke with an Adam with La Fitness at number you provided and was canceled from the training sessions. Glory Alleuja! Thank you for posting ! Tj

I mailed in my cancellation form and they never cancelled my account.  Then i saw this posting and emailed Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330  aylinm@lafitness.com.  Later that night I was emailed my receipt for membership cancellation.  Once you mail the bottom of the form in keep the other part and if they dont cancel it email her the barcode.  She got the job done!! Thanks AYLIN

Well, I must say it all worked after the many email and phone call attempts. I was never able to contact Aylin, but I somehow got in touch with Alex Luna. This phone number was useful, 949-255-7200. He told me, hewas going to call the gym, after that I never heard anything back from him, called back next day, another representative answered asked for the guy, I had to explain my problem again and she passed me with the him. He then told me that he submitted my cancellation to the dept in charged and that he was just waiting for the answer. He said he will send me an email.Nextday I got a call from someone who got my voicemails and asked me what the problem was and who had helped me. The problem was resolved. I got my email cancellation!! Thanks Alex Luna!!

I literally JUST emailed Aylin and within 5 minutes got a confirmation that my personal training membership was canceled. I just bought it yesterday and was feeling buyers remorse today. It was my own fault. I should have thought it over before signing up to pay $80 a month for a year. Glad this thread had her email address!! :)

I have actually been a member of LA Fitness for some time, and have not had any issues with them until now, trying to cancel the membership. Reading online, I wasn't aware that sending in the cancellation form was so rare, but apparently most places don't do this. I sent mine in in November, to have it canceled by January, where I've started using my school's gym. I get a call on the 26th from LA Fitness saying that I owe them January's fee and a bank fee. They didn't have my current card information because I had closed the card attached to the gym. I swore to them up and down I sent the stupid form, but they claim they have a system that states when a form has been printed. I don't trust it. I've already filed a complaint with the BBB, and am awaiting a response. I won't give them my new info until they get back to me.

Today Aylin came through for me.  I was not able to get my last months payment credited but a payment will come out for February tomorrow and she said that would be credited back to my account.  So since I paid first and last month up front I am stuck with one more month of a membership that I really have no use for.

    Dear LAF personnel,

I am sorry to come at you with this notice but I have no one listening me at the local management level for the fact that they are afraid of retaliation.

I’m honestly trying to reach out to your HR department or senior leadership, please forward accordingly

I have wrongfully been accused of training people at your Culver City facility.
I have been a member at this facility for quite some time. Most of the original Bally total fitness employees know me and have come to support me in my physical needs and achievements as I began to compete in amateur bodybuilding last year.

As a friend and member of you facility Cameron and I were both getting ready for The NPC Grand Prix in April, due to our intense training I had been accused of training him, when in fact he’s my workout partner. I do not receive any type of compensation for working out with him. All we do is give each other an additional push to make and help us meet our goals.

I was accused of being a certified trainer in which that is false and there is no record of me even getting any type of certification or attending any type of training that would consider or call me a fitness trainer..

I honestly don’t want to seek any legal option but will if needed as I have been advised to do so.

I honestly just want to be at the gym and be reinstated, I enjoy working out at the Culver City facility. I have about 10 family members there and possible an additional 20 close friends that work out at the facility, all who support me and know that these are all false accusations..

The reason I want to contact HR is for both Falsification of documentation by your PT Supervisor Quan Paxton which I believe he should also get some type of Corrective Action taken for his slander of myself and false accusations, if that’s not enough the same individual has violated your Ethics Code if any on the grounds that he is dating someone he oversees at the gym, name can be given upon request.

I never saw or did anyone go over any type of investigation, no one was called in to be interviewed and all was done by the assumption of your employee Quan which did make a $500 bonus for having Former trainer Julian and myself excluded from LA Fitness… Yes I know of the catch the illegal trainer incentive LA Fitness offers, in which he had false claims.

As you can see there is a bad apple in Culver City, I hope you can understand the stress this employee has caused me and other members there as they can not believe this is happening.. i have a big support group at the gym which are willing to petition for me if needed.  as many people are online blogging on how bad LA Fitness is and what a hard time it is to get out of a contract or membership... HERE I AM TRYING TO GET MINE BACK

Thanks for listening, i have additional detail on a day by day on an excel sheet for the last two weeks with better detail and proper timelines of the incidents upon request

you can contact Harrison or Cisco at your Culver City Facility if you need additional info.. unfortunately both Jessica and Bob Dyke seem to have been brainwashed by your PT Supervisor Quan

I have also been falsely accused of training under the table. I was harassed by someone named Dan at the West LA gym. I work out at both the Culver City and West LA locations, and my husband told me that one of his gym friends was wrongfully accused of training people and got kicked out. I work out with my close friend at the West LA gym about three times a week. Yesterday my girlfriend stayed home and I was approached by a staff member I've never seen before and he asked me if I've been training my friend. I said "no" and he continued to prod, he said, "Have you ever been paid to show your friend some moves?", I answered "No" and then he tried to make me think they were recruiting people, he was clearly trying to make me incriminate myself, and to give him grounds to further pursue his inquiry. I would also like to add that I never tell my friend what to do, I have never modified her movements; I have done NOTHING to give them any indication that I'm training her. I didn't know it was against gym policy to have a work out buddy! To make a long story short, no one has tried to kick me out, but I told Dan that I don't appreciate being falsely accused, and I've heard that I'm not the only one. I don't know who's encouraging these staff members to accost former Bally's members, but I will not stand for it. And if I ever get approached again, I will find a new gym.

I've been wanting to cancel my membership for a while but didn't do anything about it until reading Zoe's 11/9 post (and other comments). I sent an email to Aylin and in 10 minutes received a letter of receipt that my membership was canceled. All I did was give her my barcode and request to cancel. I didn't have to mail any form.

Thanks to everyone who has taken a few minutes submit their comments!

After reading this post, I was pretty concerned about being able to cancel my membership. I've had absolutely no issues with LA Fitness and have been pretty satisfied with everything so far. I took the advice of directly contacting:
    Orlando Gonzalez  (949) 255-7277  orlandog@lafitness.com
    Aylin Medina (949) 255-7330  aylinm@lafitness.com

I emailed them asking to cancel my membership and provided my membership #.
The next day, I received an email saying my cancellation had been completed and when my last day of membership would be.
I was very pleased with the process and continue to have a good impression of LA Fitness. I'm sorry to hear about people having problems and hope they are only isolated incidents. Or if it was previously a problem, hopefully these posts have helped correct the problem. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for your advice and contact information, I too was very happy with the same result.  I am so happy that I saw your email and that I was able to follow your instructions which resulted in a very good outcome.  I only wish that I would have acted 2 years ago when I originally was trying to cancel my membership.  Thank You again for posting your complaint and information that was very helpful to both my husband and I....I hope that others will be able benefit from your email as well.
