LA Fitness NAMES/EMAILS/NUMBERS to cancel membership!!!

LA Fitness tells you the "ONLY" way you can cancel your membership is for you to physically go into the gym and they will print off cancellation forms, which you will have to mail out yourself.  I sent my cancellations forms almost 2 weeks prior to having them take out the monthly gym fees. I felt this gave them enough time to cancel at its entirety BUT that didn't happen. I was so aggravated with the run arounds. I finally was able to get names/emails/numbers of individuals at LA Fitness headquarters who can make sure your membership is cancelled.  I do have to say "Orlando Gonzalez" was extremely professional and very cordial. He immediately reassured my memberships would be cancelled AND he would make sure I was reimbursed for the monthly fee they had just taken out.  Here is the information:   Orlando Gonzalez  (949) 255-7277  orlandog@lafitness.com  and Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330  aylinm@lafitness.com

Guys!! thank you for Aylin's ID. The cancellation was real quick. :) When I called up the LA Fitness they asked me to visit them in person or mail to the head office. I never thought that this would be real tedious process. This thread helped me a lot. Thank you :)

Hi, I am so  thankful I found this page! After 9 MONTHS of trying to cancel a 10 dollar monthly payment- I was able to have it done in 40 minutes by emailing Aylin at the above mentioned email address.
I never even had to call ---Just got a cancellation letter from LA FITNESS----super sigh of relief.
Reposting the contact info I used:

LA Fitness Vaughan has the most horrific approach to members. I went in to inquiry if my Don Mills membership was good there and they wouldn't even speak to me. Sent me to Don Mills. My friend who is a member was kicked out of the pool for being on deck in shorts and not wearing a bathing suit. No warning, no polite conversation. Treated her like dirt.

They make up policies as they go along and can't even defend them.

Stay far away from the place.

I went through the same cancellation runaround.

Mailed the form then started wondering after 2 weeks when I saw the automatic payment go through on my bank account.

Found this thread and called the number someone posted: 949-255-7200
Selected member services, Joe answered and cancelled my membership on the phone, he also immediately emailed me a confirmation.

Hope that helps and thanks to everyone for the info.

I just called the same number, the man on the end stuck to the "you need to cancel in person" routine but he said he'd freeze the account so at least I wouldn't be billed $30 for this month.
If it had been up to me I would have cancelled over the phone- if I had time in my day to go to the gym to cancel, I'd have time in my day to go to the gym to work out. But I don't.

I called Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330  aylinm@lafitness.com and left her a voicemail. Immediately after, I e-mailed her and attached my cancellation form, and also included my barcode in the body of the e-mail stating that I needed to cancel my account.

Within 20 minutes I had received a corporate e-mail confirming my account cancellation. Thank you all for the helpful information!!!

I already have membership with 24Hour fitness, cost me $300 for 2 years.  I think everyone else got the same deal, because every 24 hour fitness in my area is always full of people and I can't use the equipment.  So I decided to get membership at LA Fitness.  The website said $75 initiation fee plus $39.99 a month.

When I went to my local club, I was told that the offer online was a 2 year contract, and that by the second month I would have to pay the entire 2 years, which would amount to $880 upfront.  Instead, he pushed me to get a membership with a $99 initiation fee plus $54.99/month.  Stupid me, I agreed to it.  I talked to my cousin yesterday, she said she only pays $30/month, and that I'm getting ripped off.  Seems to me that LA Fitness is just like Bally's was: always trying to scam their customers.

I'm still within my 5 day cancellation period, so I'm hoping I can get everything refunded (over $200).  I just sent an Email to Orlando.  The fact that today is Labor Day (Monday) might be a problem.  Tuesday is day number 5.  Hopefully everything will work out.....

I know exactly how you feel! My mom had ballys and went through so much hassle with them trying to take her money even when the local gym had closed down! Now I have the same problem with LA FITNESS I had to pay almost $200.00 for the initial fee and after that $20 a month. Hahaha stupid ME! Now I have them charging me even though they have closed down the la fitness by my house which used to be BALLYS! They are a bunch of idiots and scammers thats for sure. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RETURN. NOT ANYONE I KNOW EITHER! thank you very much! This site was very helpful. I hope they reply by tomorrow. please let me know of they replied to you!

I got a response from LA Fitness. Their Email stated that I would be receiving a full refund and that my membership would be cancelled.  It's a good thing I found this thread and that I was pointed in the right direction (Email to Orlando).  I have yet to receive the refund, but hopefully that'll be done soon....

I believe you had 5 days to cancel.  I believe that was in you contract.  Did you not read it?

I cancelled mine within 5 days, and got all of my money refunded within 3 days after having my membership cancelled (through Orlando).

Cancelled my personal training account right in the gym at Miracle Mile. The sales lady first suggested me to mail out the form, and I asked “Really? Can you just process it in your computer?” Kind enough, she did!  And an email confirmation was received in a minute.  So literally, any staff in the LA Fitness gym, with a working computer, is capable of processing the requests that are now taking their customers hours and $$ to struggle. Sad.

Thanks for this thread.  I just sent an email to Aylin with my forms attached and my barcodes in the body of the email.  Hopefully, I'll get a confirmation soon. I'll let the thread know when I do.
LA Fitness is too pushy.  Upon signing up the trainers tried to push me into getting a trainer, when I told one no, he asked a buddy of his for help and he tried to push even more.  He said things like, "I can't do it on my own.  I'm going to die in 3 months." It's like excuse me who the #$!% are you?  I told them you guys will say anything for a sale and then I left. I still joined the gym because it was close to home but after being interrupted when working out by the same trainer everytime I go, I'm sick of it.  I'll keep my money and exercise somewhere else!
