LA Fitness NAMES/EMAILS/NUMBERS to cancel membership!!!
LA Fitness tells you the "ONLY" way you can cancel your membership is for you to physically go into the gym and they will print off cancellation forms, which you will have to mail out yourself. I sent my cancellations forms almost 2 weeks prior to having them take out the monthly gym fees. I felt this gave them enough time to cancel at its entirety BUT that didn't happen. I was so aggravated with the run arounds. I finally was able to get names/emails/numbers of individuals at LA Fitness headquarters who can make sure your membership is cancelled. I do have to say "Orlando Gonzalez" was extremely professional and very cordial. He immediately reassured my memberships would be cancelled AND he would make sure I was reimbursed for the monthly fee they had just taken out. Here is the information: Orlando Gonzalez (949) 255-7277 orlandog@lafitness.com and Aylin Medina (pronounced Eileen) (949) 255-7330 aylinm@lafitness.com

No reply since this morning and it is 7pm now. Will see what will happen and post back the results. Hope all goes smooth, since I do not have time to deal with BS. I'm and was aware what I signed on the contract and had no issues with it. But it states you can cancel in case of death, move away more than 25 miles or medical issue that prevents you from training with provided doctors note. If I don't response by next Tuesday, then I will mail the required papers via certified mail and start calling them to follow up. Anyone has done anything similar?
Lets hope for the best. Will keep you posted.
The Santa Fe Springs LA Fitness then intro me with the personal training program recruiter - David Aceituno. He explained to me how great the training programs are and how I should join them. When I asked about the fee, he told me that it's the same as my membership, which I pay for current session and also last session in advance. He DID NOT mention to me at all that there's an agreement contract on 1 year(52 weeks) term. As far as I know, my membership doesnt have any contract so his hiding skill works. I was hesitate to join and so he told me that he can shorten the session to 2 weeks... meaning that I only have to pay $90 for 2 weeks, another $90 advance for the last 2 weeks, and $50 initiation fee, total $230. I told him specifically that I would try the personal training for 1 month (2 weeks + 2 weeks) for $230 and asked him to sign me up. He was like: sure! Then he started to pick some plan from his computer, he didnt even care to show and explain to me what are those about. While he was doing that, I requested him to also stop my training session right after 1 month when he signing me up. He told me that the system won't allow him to do that and told me that we can discuss about that later after I join. He then showed me the total amount $230, and asked me to sign on the digital signature pad for the credit card payment. I signed it, he went to the printer, grab the printout, folded it nicely (I wonder if he's doing that on purpose), and told me that is my receipt to keep.
Today is the 11th day after I signed up, it is my 2nd training session so I personally went to David and told him that I would like to stop my training 2 weeks later as we discussed before. He told me that he's busy and would like to call me up to have separate conversation with me. I went home, pull out my "receipt" and found that it is indeed a 52 weeks contracts! I called David immediately, and he lied to me that he did mention to me about the contracts. He said that I would have to pay 1/2 of the full contract if I cancel now. I am really upset.
- He NEVER mentioned about the contract to me ORAL form
- He made me to believe that training program is the same as my LA Fitness membership that doesnt have long term contract
- I specifically mentioned to him that I will try for ONE month, asked him to set it in system
- I WASNT shown the contract terms while he was asking me to sign on the digital signature pad, made me sign on my contract BLINDLY
- Lawfully, I think the client has rights to know what they are signing by showing them the contracts. The system loophole has given chance for the LA Fitness employee to SCAM members into signing contracts while they are being told to sign for the payment.
